Master Mix missing Presets

I purchased Master Mix 64-bit and installed it. Windows 7 64-bit

I am used to using certain Final Mix presets on an as is basis, or as starting points and then saving the tweaked configuration under a new name.

1. I would like to copy and paste the .vfi preset files from the Final Mix Factory Setting Folder to the proper Master Mix folder so as to make those presets available in Master Mix.

Will it work, and if so, where is it located?

2. I am used to tweaking a preset and then saving it under a song-specific name in the Final Mix User Folder. I see no way in Master Mix of saving a tweaked setting as a Master Mix preset. How is this done?

The Final Mix presets are not compatible with Master Mix, you'll have to manually dial in any settings I'm afraid.

However, you can save presets simply using Tracktion's preset library or save/load them to a fxb/fxp file. Additionally if you have presets stored in the Tracktion preset library you can export/import these by right clicking on the preset.

Once you have your favourite starting points as presets it should only be a couple of clicks or drags to apply them to a new/existing instance of Master Mix.

Just a thought but maybe you should have dialled in the missing presets before selling it? - the comprehensive presets that came with Final Mix were one of the things that made it stand out.

Who do I bribe at the Tracktion Software Corporation to build all the Final Mix presets, especially the Acuma ones, back into Master Mix?

No joke.

I was overjoyed to finally be in a pure 64-bit environment, and now this.

To the developers: If any of the Master Mix presets ARE precise Final Mix equivalents, please identify them?

If I open Final Mix and save each of the Final Mix presets as an fxb file I can then copy and paste them over to the Master Mix Tracktion library (which appears at the bottom of the Tracktion screen when the vst is opened) and that fxb file will swork in Master Mix?

Does not work. Saved a few Final Mix Factory Presets as fxp files. Opened Master Mix. Loaded fxp file. The Master Mix controls were all set at gibberish: one volume slider all the way down, one pinned upwards, the eq lines off the scale; everything that could be set wrong, was

+1 I've held off this purchase , I mainly use The Glue and just a track EQ on tracks . I really liked the Final Mix presets because they were good starting points which usually needed a few little tweaks .

That would be difficult given that I don't have access to the old version anymore since it won't run in T5, not sure who does, that was one reason why so many people wanted a new version. Since you do, presumably, have access, and since you are selling it, if you would invest the time in recreating them all it would be good. Thanks.

Before I read your note about recreating a Final Mix Preset by writing down each parameter and setting, I did just that and then opened Master Mix and recreated each knob setting, value, curve, and parameter for the preset, Acuma The Leveler. I saved it as an fxp file.

It works as a shabby workaround, however the problem is, when you load such an fxp file, the GUI will not display the Preset Name of the fxp file, so you end up perhaps not remembering what Preset you are working with and auditioning starting point presets immediately becomes aggravating.

Bottom line, Master Mix -- as is-- works against the primary Tracktion sensibility of streamlining work flow.

I was completely serious when I said that I would pay your code writer to perfectly replicate the Final Mix presets.

I have several high end and excellent mastering programs, UAD, Izotope, etc., but out of all of them only Final Mix has a convincing analogue sound and an uncanny ability to make everything sit well in the mix. Put Acuma Punch on the drum track -- done. Put Acuma FinalMIx preset on the master buss with a brickwall vst right after -- done. For acoustic pop and rock put The Acuma Leveler on the master buss -- almost done.

TSC, as far as priority, if I had all the Final Mix presets that begin with "Acuma," I would be incredibly happy and would be able to strongly recommend Master Mix to all.

I appreciate you guys getting under the hood to resurrect T3Final Mix 32 bit to make it last this long. Please consider making MM all it can, and should, be.

I recently tried Final Mix again,after jumping the gun and buying MM and finding it somewhat lacking.
Previously In T4 and win xp FM would crash Tracktion every time I tried use it.
I upgraded up to win 8.1 and tried FM again in T5.3.16 and now with 5.4,much to my surprise it is now working fine,with the proviso that I have to point to the FM preset folder in my documents,every time I open up an edit .slightly irritating but I don't want to mess about with it in case I break something.

All aspects of the T3 version of FM can work properly in a 32-bit T5 Win7 environment, presets and all.

However a specific install sequence and folder location, and proper nesting of the dll file-- relative to the preset folders -- is required.

I used to know all that info but its been years, and I am currently trying to remember or rediscover it because I am currently trying to install FM on my living room laptop which I use as a sketch pad for ideas as they come to me. Saves me from turning on the whole studio space down the hall.

Currently the FM on my laptop works like you describe. While try to remember the whole 'secret hand shake," let me share this:

I believe that in some systems the FM folder absolutely has to be in the User/YOURNAME/AppData/Roaming/Traction 4 etc folder. I have one desktop that requires this and another that allows me to place the folder anywhere. Go figure. (Note that oftentimes AppData is a hidden folder so you will have to find the switch to make it visible).

The need to install to that location is a permissions issue I believe

Note: If you have FM as a zip file, extract to that folder, don't copy and paste if you can avoid it. More voodoo.

When you create the FM folder, the dll file goes in it, and then the two preset folders get nested under the folder you just created. Fairly straightforward.

Unfortunately I believe that there is one thing more that I am forgetting. If I recall it, I will share. Then FM will run normally on my laptop

Activate FM, go to Menu, go to Open FM or whatever it says, navigate to the factory preset folder and clik on the first preset file. if everything is proper at this point, FM will be trouble-free forever.

We will certainly be maintaining and updating MM - that was the whole reason we took the time and effort to right it - it will evolve and you guys are all part of that process

Our good friend Christian from DDMF is the primary architect for the new plug - it is all new code so there are subtle differences to FM - remember, Mackie owns FM and all associated IP

If you have great presets then share them - if you find a bug, just let us know and we will fix it
