As the saying goes, you can please all the people some time, and you can please some people all the time – but, you can't please all the people all the time.
IMHO, the business decision to release what is to all intents and purposes early beta software in order to keep to a timetable or to please the "mo' features" crowd has (predictably) backfired.
I don't mind using beta software – if it's announced as such, with the appropriate caveats. Releasing T 6.0, aware that it's an IED and trying to soften the blow with a T5 license, further aware that T6 files aren't even backwards compatible, looks like a poor business decision to me.
And it's not as if T5 was fixed, either. The old curse of plug-in incompatibility from the Mackie days still hangs over T, at least in the Mac version. My goto Hammond clone, GSI VB3, still has a frozen GUI in T5 – and T6. It works fine in Live 9, it even works fine as an AU using 32Lives in Logic X! None of my Sknote plugs even pass validation as AU:s in Tracktion. They do in Live 9 and Logic X. And so on, and so forth.
My life is too short to deal with "cool new features, never mind old bugs" software. I appreciate stability and an indexed, up-to-date PDF manual.
So, I will debark from this cruise; maybe I'll get back on board some day, when Tracktion hopefully has matured as a stable, easy to use DAW for inspired work.

So T6 has issues, and TSC has chosen to promote it in a manner that was less cautionary
than I would have preferred. Am I mad about it? No... Can I fault them for it? Not entirely...
I used the demo, I had problems with it. I chose to purchase the upgrade anyway. Because
I wanted to use the shiny new features and I wanted to support them.
I believe these guys are cool, they are a small company with big ideas, and tons on knowledge and
experience behind them. More than I could ever hope to have myself... When you ask for support,
you get it from them, not from some guy in India or where ever... Woody has personally gone out of
his way to assist me far more than he had to, just because he's a nice guy. I appreciate that, and I
appreciate what they're trying to do with TSC and Tracktion.
I will continue to support them and their efforts, even if my experience with T6 so far has been
less than stellar. I look up to these guys, because I am truly a babe in the woods compared to them,
and I think they deserve that admiration.
I would however, respectfully request that in the future, they consider a beta period for new versions,
paid or no, I don't care about that. Or in the least, offer up some of that knowledge and experience
in all honesty regarding its use and what kind of experience I should expect to have. Because I know, that
they know far better than I. And I refuse to believe that they would want me to have anything other
than the best possible experience while utilizing their work...
Long live TSC...

It looks like an update was released two days ago on the 23rd of February. I just installed it today and the situation is about the same. Melodyne Edit 2 is still not working and neither is my Roland Duo-Capture audio interface. I'm looking forward to the next release. One of these days it will work, and in the mean time, T5 is fine.
