Padshop Pro and Dark Planet are wonder for dark ambient (I am a dark ambient/ambient composer). Padshop is in my last 5 compositions, Dark Planet in 3 of them as well. Bloody lovely they are.

Thx numanoid. Yes thats the way i wanna do it cause i really think steinbergs presets are mostly not well sadly....

If it's the Atrium Carceri sound that you are after, then indeed padshop pro will deliver.
By the way, I can spot a huge amount of Absynth presets in his work, on numerous album. Absynth is a huge part of his arsenal, but padshop pro will get you there as well. Load any sample made of a minor chord, an tweak away... Instant gratification.

I'll not say much more than that other than a huge PITA! Check around the different forums and you will see what I mean. Steinberg has been typical; leaving it up to users to find solutions and help others and not offering much help at all. Unanswered forum requests going back to 2012 in some cases.

Once you get the files in the right spot *- which is a lot of guess work - Padshop Pro do sound wonderful.

I bought them a couple of days back and am still trying to get Dark Planet to dl. 4 failed attempts now and leaving me feeling very frustrated.

The whole experience was/is quite frustrating; from purcxhase problems to installing to getting the DAW to recognize them, etc.

But I think that will subside once I acutaully get to making some music with these.

* EDIT - to clarify - I let the installer set them where it wanted. Cubase could not find them! This was a bad omen if I wanted to use them in other DAW's I have.

So I moved some things around until Cubase finally recognized them. It's been an uphill battle all the way!

On Windows, you just need to remember that you need to install for "all users"

There was some problems in the past that patches disappeared when new was installed, but that was because the plug had been installed for "all users" but the addons only for "main user"

Wouldn't you think, as widely known this is now, that Steinberg would have made this the default option?

I found this out after a LOT of trouble. Even still, it did not solve all my problems I'm having but I'm getting there with the directory management

A lot of us are the ONLY user of our machines so it seems natural to allow the default option of "main user" install. Not to mention the check box for "all users" is so tiny and easily overlooked.

Your comment may very well assist Caine in his install

I wanted to come back and say Dark Planet finally dl'd complete.

Installed without a hitch

Using it now

and loving it

But I'm wondering if it is because this is the paid for version and not the demo like was Hypnotic Dance and Padshop Pro and then bought a key.

The latter installed a soft eLicenser that never would authorize.

Dark Planet authorized direct to the dongle.

Don't know if - maybe - this had anything to do with anything

Caine123 - if you haven't yet, buy these puppies and go through the motions of getting them to work. PITA but worth it

on to the steinberg page and getting padshop pro! sadly 2nd hand it is a pain in the ass as you need to get send the dongle and shipping etc. costs too so you dont get it cheaper than 50 bucks mostly ;D.
ok now i got Alchemy (RIP), The Mangle and Granite for my Granular needs, i hope padshop pro will be accepted from them!

hmhmhmm i just checked this review and the Dark Planet Expansion sounds thin and not great in my ears :/ and i dont think there are many tweakable options within Halion Sonic 2? i would need to get Halion Sonic 2. but i think i will pass as i got Omnisphere and will upgrade when omni2 will be out and this will be massive

not to hijack but is it worth getting the Zero Gravity ROM? I've got Cubase so it's either £7 to upgrade to Padshop Pro or £27 for the upgrade and ROM

Some have said it is worth it, others say go with Patchpool's creations instead.

I would get granular guitar before zero gravity. i tested demoed and they are wonderfull. i would have picked Padshop and GG if they didn't use an elicenser (I need two set ups in desktop and laptop and next year I will be traveling a lot so ifor now I will pass).

With the dongle though you can install to any computer, plug the dongle in the computer in use and off you go.

But, yeah, if you are using both computers at the same time then you need two licenses.

I used to think it was a matter of pirates causing all the hardships on we honest people.

I don't think that so much anymore as much as it's a just a matter of milking us. The protection schemes inadvertantly caused another revenue stream.

IMO the factory presets are wonderful. Talented sound designers like Luftrum and Himalaya have put quality presets, so Zero Gravity is not better than the factory but only different. When I bought it, it was about 50% discounted so it was a no brainer. For a full price, hmmm, I don't know! maybe! It depends how you value it. It comes not only with presets of course, but with samples that will be added to your Padshop library so it would extend what you already have.
In my opinion Granular Symphonies is mostly distorted orchestral instruments. Of course it can find their place especially in a "Wonderland" world, but in general has limited usage for me.
