Put the instrument you want to use to preview on a track, right click on it and then select "Use plugin for midi preview".SteffHell wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:11 pm Can I define the correct file preview sound somewhere?
Or is previewing drum files with a drum sound not possible?

Just curious, where or how do you find such information? The manual doesn't have any, at least there is no result for "Use plugin for midi preview" or even "midi preview".

I'm one of those people that clicks / right clicks on everything to see whats there. It's a habit I got from using Samplitude which had lots of right click options. Most things can be found by paying attention to menu's as you use them so you know what's there for future use.SteffHell wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 3:23 pm Thanks a lot, that is what I was looking and hoping for.

+Many 1's on this. I suffer thru this a lot. This would be a great compliment to the new drum sampler.SteffHell wrote: Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:11 pm I just opened the "Files" list in the Browser and clicked through my collection of drum midi files to pick one file for a project.
The problem is, these drum files are not played as drums but with some synth sound (which makes previewing almost useless, obviously).
I was searching for where I can set the synth/sound for "loop preview" and found (only) this thread.

T7 had just light and dark color schemes. Waveform 10 has 8 color schemes to choose from, including the 2 from T7; so there is more choice; but no fully-customizable scheme like there had been back in the old versions.
Those could be problematic, as sometimes you would customize and wind up with a color scheme where text or adjacent areas would be undistinguishable (like dark text on a dark background). I believe this is why the color scheme editor was eliminated; it was a mixed blessing, but it's "loss" provides a more consistent environment.
