True, but in this context of an interview, it's just Claes talking - I know he's representing Bitwig but I won't take this video as an official communication, unless he moved to programmer to spoke person.

Then another question poped-up: how big is the market for modular thing? How many producers are actually in the need for it? So far, I guess that on the song market, tunes are mostly made in the box or from live recordings...
So how worth are the efforts in making modular hard and software, in the end. Is this a hobbyist market or a professional one?

I could guess that the market might actually be bigger than expected. For instance, how many of the producers working mostly in a DAW are proficient enough with an actual instrument to play live? If you're adding a modular setup on stage, then you still have something that is "real" (not to mention very very cool)...

And also, as far as I know the whole modular synthesis thing is a bit like a virus combined with an addiction. Your friend shows you their modular system and you just have to get one. And then you just _need_ to get this single extra module for it...

That's a good question. I think, probably only a fraction of the user base is really interested in modularity.
I use it as my main DAW, so basic functionality should be functioning properly.
What is infuriating is that simple stuff, like playing back a sample in the browser cuts off the first milliseconds (so it's unusable to preview kick drums) and stupid bugs like that, are not addressed since at least a year. Simple stuff that shouldn't be even a problem to fix, are left there for months for the end users frustration. I won't even go into strange bugs here and there that pop up randomly.
Focus on the basics first to get it rock stable, then add stuff like modularity and license model change.

According to the new license model, that's what is supposed to happen... that's basically what we're paying so much for. We'll just have to wait and see I guess..

I don't think there will be any announcements. Probably just in release changelog at the date of appearance.

The only reason most producers i know use bitwig is because of workflow and not modular system.

We love the workflow and definitely love that you can lfo everything.

However, apart from that we would rather see new workflow improvements than more updates on modular system. At the end of the day, we make music for radio / festivals and youtube listeners.
