I totally agree with this setup as long as 'double click + drag' still works to reset step values in step sequencersPhazma wrote: Wed Apr 14, 2021 5:16 pm
- Single left click on knob -> set parameter as 'last clicked'
- Single left click on value -> type in new value
- Double left click on knob/value -> reset to default value
- Single right click on knob/value -> VST3 automation menu
v15J beta - set to default behaviour has changed

I dearly wish Zeus or Oprah or somebody with that kind of authority would dictate that there's a mouse action for reverting to default value that WORKED THE SAME EVERYWHERE!!!!
OK, a little frustrated here ... just used MSF for the first time in a while and kept getting snagged by the new behavior. I agree with everybody else here that this is an unwelcome "improvement", even if it does stick with established conventions for GUI software.
I'd approve of switching to (left) double-click and making the enter-value action something else. In fact, more often than not, I get the enter-value screen showing up when I really hadn't wanted it.
I'd also be happy see an option that left the old revert-to-default action as is and made the show-context-menu action cntl-right-click or something along those lines. I use revert-to-default vastly more often than anything needing a context menu.

Apparently some people complain about too many options although I haven't seen any of that in the forum here.
I would suggest adding a .ini file to hide the customization from those who don't want it and let everyone else customize their workflow as much as they want.
V15 seems to aim towards more mainstream appeal with the new custom GUIs in MTurboComp and MTurboEQ, but at least there's a global option to turn them off now.
Please don't forget about us geeky customers, Vojtech.

I was just going to say. Programs which feature comprehensive hotkey editing are the best. Sadly, they're also rare. Not even the mighty reaper lets you freely assign every key and mouse action, at least not by default.
Another cool feature which some applications implement is 'hotkey sets'. For instance, Studio One and Melodyne. They both have settings for Pro Tools and other DAWs' keyboard assignments. Maybe having those preset keysets available then making them customizable is something the community would like.

I found "GLOBAL SYSTEM SETTINGS > Right click sets default value" in the plugins "Settings" menu (ver. 15.00k).

So he basically added an option for the old behavior while keeping the weird new one as default? Does anyone find the new default useful?pelori wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 3:00 am I found "GLOBAL SYSTEM SETTINGS > Right click sets default value" in the plugins "Settings" menu (ver. 15.00k).

If already adding an option.. why not actually consider as default:
double click = default value
right click = open menu but with "Enter new value" as first option (instead of "default value")
(and maybe) ctrl/cmd click = directly open new value window
And who is interested into the old behavior can switch the "right click sets default value" option on.
I just think that resetting a value to default is something usually done much quicker / without thinking, than typing a precise value. Hence why IMO it needs a quicker access. When typing a value I don't mind to right-click + choose an option because I have to think and type a value so it is something that takes a few seconds anyway. But having to open a menu or press a modifier just to quickly reset a value IMO is not intuitive.
tl;dr:
Glad there is at least an option to go back to old behavior because the new one doesn't make sense to me.. but given that the old one is not consistent with other apps either, why not make the new default consistent with double click = default value instead of this weird new configuration?

I'm glad the setting is optional now. Thanks for letting us know!pelori wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 3:00 am I found "GLOBAL SYSTEM SETTINGS > Right click sets default value" in the plugins "Settings" menu (ver. 15.00k).

Enthusiastic +1 on all three of those suggestions. I would definitely prefer double-click to set the default and something else for value entry. Most of the time I get presented with a value entry screen it's because my muscle memory double-clicked to reset to default value.Phazma wrote: Fri Apr 30, 2021 8:17 am If already adding an option.. why not actually consider as default:

Option + click on Mac is what 90% of other plugins use. But Fabfilter, Voxengo and Melda don't - and they all use a different one.
FabFilter uses CMD, Voxengo uses doubleclick and Melda used control click, now its CMD+rightclick.
Anything that's not option+click requires me to think and pisses me off, so i don't really care in this particular case. it's changed from "i have to think about it" to "i have to think about it".
I would also wish all plugins use the same modifier for "fine" adjustment, alas, here we are.
I like V15 tho, some neat new functions.

Really? Which ones for example? I can't think of any plugin that I own that resets parameters on option+click. In my experience it seems to be 90% double click.
