There was a serious question embedded in there:

"How would you put "1/4 dotted" in textual information if you don't have note symbols at your disposal?"

I would really like to know how we can do better in those drop down menus.

Yes, I think that's what I was trying to articulate but didn't really know the proper nomenclature.

I've just never really had to think about delay times that way since all your synths have note symbols.

I blame you, Urs. It's all your fault. Your synths spoiled me.

Are you talking about the text as it appears in the Sync dropdown menus in MFM? I don't see anything wrong with what you have there today like "1/4 dot" and "1/4 trip". Both are perfectly clear and require no change. Unless you want to spell dotted and triplet and use the 3 extra characters. You can also use 1/4d and 1/4t, but I feel like that's less clear than what you currently have.

The only thing I might change is grouping them by note division (shortest to longest) and then sub-sort the division from shortest to longest. So you'd see 1/16 trip, 1/16, 1/16th dot, then 1/8 trip, 1/8, 1/8 dot, then 1/4 trip, 1/4, then 1/4 dot, etc. Keeps like notes together, but should be clear to non-musicians that triplets are faster than dotted divisions.

Apologies if that's not the question.

Yeah, well, I think that's the question. And I also think that it requires a minimum of musical knowledge.

MFM2 is looking great Urs!

And just to clarify: my original comment from the prior page really had more to do with Diva's 1.0 (16th), 2.00 (8th), 4.00 (Qtr), 6.00 (dotted Qtr), 8.00 (half), 16.00 (whole) approach to delay time values. Or Lyrebird's, which combines that with a variable Timebase knob. Those require some math to figure out.

Even as today (I downloaded the demo earlier to confirm), MFM's dropdown is much easier for non-mathematically inclined musicians like myself. No change needed to MFM IMO.

...but if some future Diva included a reworked delay time approach, I wouldn't complain.
