No, but that would be a good feature for them to add.
Yes because the included samples are some of the worst I've ever heard.

Oh well kudos to CA for at least including Shaku, Bottle, and Ahh samples which I used the heck out of in synths from the day and still reach for these days but the quality is just abysmal.

After spending more time with the demo I'll have to pass at least for now. It's unfortunate because I want to encourage developers to pay more attention to synths from the era like the ESQ-1 VFX, D-50, U22O etc.

Again it's hard to complain about a $39 synth but sadly it sounds every penny of it to me.... :?

do the CA synths use multi-core ?

my CPU on this synth and some of their other ones seems to struggle once I go above the default 1xoversampling - just tried 2x and struggling

seems to use more CPU than when I use even power synths like Bazille in HQ mode

Not a big fan of the color theme. The bright blue makes it look too busy... bought it anyway because I kinda like the raspy, kinda s*it*y sound :)

The split / layered presets are all REALLY fun. And the general sound reminds me of SQ8L which is the only 32-bit synth I really miss. So yeah, that's an instant buy from me! Good work Cherry Audio!

I imagine lots of work went into this synth, but sadly, I'm not impressed with the sound. GUI is great, features are great, but the sound, meh.

My opinion is quite the opposite. The GUI looks a bit too crowded and busy. The color palette is IMHO not very well chosen. But the sound is, although dirty and noisy quite interesting... different enough to warrant a place in my plugin arsenal. It's not my new favorite plugin, but I like it. :scared:

OK, after an hour later playing with it, one thing I will say is that with some bitcrush effect, this synth really comes alive. Really pulls out the missing sparkle of the highs.

Downloaded just to see if Cherry Audio has improved their code on synced ocillator's ( since ca2600)
Sadly they haven't , it aliases like crazy in the upper regions .
No ringmod etc..
Just 3 oscillators , a string synth and a 2pole filter , where's the dream part ??
Deinstalled and moving on (as expected )

What kind of music are you doing, Industrial? :)

I would choose a far more common tool, like a high shelf EQ.... ;)

Dear Cherry Audio,

If what you're doing doesn't piss somebody off, you're probably not doing anything important.

It may also be worth noting that some of the most negative voices on this thread had already decided they weren't going to like it based on the "D50-like" conversation in the earlier thread. Foregone conclusion for them.

Post

Speaking for myself I wanted it to be "D50-like". I was really looking forward to it capturing the vibe of that era but sadly for me they missed the boat.

I'm not "pissed off" but I am disappointed. I might have just set my expectations too high. No hard feelings just not for me but I will keep an eye on development. Perhaps my opinion will change if there are any updates.

Techno. There are no rules.

This looks quite interesting, however:
Dreamsynth also includes a beautiful-sounding classic string synthesizer that, unlike traditional paraphonic string synths, is fully polyphonic
TBH I can't really make any sense of that. If it isn't paraphonic divide-down, then it isn't a "classic string synthesizer" - and this highly idiosyntratic restriction aside (which makes them what they are), they are fully polyphonic, i.e. I can press all keys at once and each of them will indeed yield their note.

So this sentence puzzles me - big time.

That's my take with all of Cherry's stuff. I bought a couple of things a while ago but never used them in anything. I've tried a few demos since and they've all been the same - disappointing - so I stopped even bothering. Nothing in the video demo tempts me to bother with this, either.

It does have audio rate modulation though.
