Cherry Audio's Dreamsynth is a tribute to the celebrated hybrid analog/digital synthesizers of the mid-to-late 1980s. The innovative design blends flexible dual-wave morphing oscillators, stereo filters, a fully polyphonic string synthesizer, extensive and easy-to-use modulation, studio-quality effects, and MPE support, all in an elegant vintage-style synth interface.

Cherry Audio's Dreamsynth is available now at cherryaudio.com and authorized resellers worldwide for only $39!

Dreamsynth draws its inspiration from renowned synths including the Ensoniq ESQ-1, the Kawai "K" series, and the Sequential Prophet VS. These "hybrid" synthesizers combined the precision and flexibility of sampled digital oscillators with the warmth of analog filters. The mixture of digital and analog sound produced instruments with character and a unique sonic fingerprint that still resonates today.

DREAMSYNTH FEATURES
  • Innovative design blends flexible dual-wave morphing oscillators, stereo filters, analog strings, extensive modulation, studio-quality effects, and MPE support, all in an elegant vintage-style synth interface
  • Three dual-waveform oscillators, amounting to six simultaneous virtual analog or PCM sample-based oscillators with up to 16 voices of polyphony
  • Authentically modeled virtual analog waveforms, plus 430 looping, one-shot, and single-cycle PCM waveforms
  • Fully polyphonic 16-voice string synthesizer can be layered and split independently of the primary synth
  • Three tempo-syncable LFOs
  • Arpeggiator, independently assignable to synth or string sections
  • OB-style 12 dB/octave multimode stereo filters
  • Extensive and accessible modulation: 20 mod sources and over 40 destinations, including effects
  • Effects include distortion and sample-crushing, 12-stage phaser, chorus, flanger, rotary speaker, delay, and reverb, including the new "Galactic" reverb algorithm
  • Support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) -- Pitch, Channel Pressure, and Timbre -- making Dreamsynth capable of more organic and expressive performances when using MPE-compatible controllers
  • A massive library of over 1100 presets from a wildly talented and diverse group of sound designers including James Terris, Katharine Fountain aka FOUNTAINS, Julian Pollack (J3PO), Dave Polich, Julie Kathryn (I AM SNOW ANGEL), Huston Singletary, Mark Wilcox, Joseph Holiday, Agent Method, and Venus Theory
Dreamsynth is available in AU, VST, VST3, AAX, and standalone formats, for macOS and Windows. It includes native support for Apple's M1 processor and is fully compatible with macOS 12 Monterey. A free 30-day demo is available. Visit cherryaudio.com for additional product details, system requirements, and an expansive collection of sound demos.

Congrats on the new release cherryDan! :)

Well after spending some time with the demo, sadly I'm not impressed. It's kind of hard to complain about a $39 synth but I'm really disappointed with the included sample content.

For example the horrible loop in "8 Bit Ahh 2". I get it the idea is to capture the spirit of the analog/digital hybrids of the day and I'm a huge fan of those having owned and played several but including some higher quality sample content with up to date standards would have helped bring it into this century.

I appreciate that Cherry Audio has released a synth that's not just another analog emulation so I was really looking forward to Dream Synth.

I'll spend some more time with the demo so maybe my opinion will change however so far I can only express disappointment. But again it's a $39 synth so maybe my expectations were too high.

Looks good but why only 12db filters ? 24db is a must, especialy for a "dream synth"...

The filter sounds amazing reminds me of my OB-6. Two synths I lusted for, especially the Prophet VS, great sounding synth! It's apparent, that people can have different dreams.

It sounds great. I really like the versatility of this synth. It also looks fantastic. Good job dev team.

Bought it because my dream is to go back to the 80's! And because I also own most of the synths from Cherry Audio.

There's different kind of dreams... Sometimes you have very special ones. That's why there should be a 24db option for the filter called the "wet dream mode"

I must be getting old, never heard of any of the preset makers.... anyway.... can you load your own samples?

Here is a preset I put together for it:

I already have more than enough sound generators, so I probably won't buy it.

But, to me this is the first interesting Cherry Audio synth besides Voltage Modular. Not bad.

Sadly for me the UI makes this a no go. You know when you look at a bright light and it burns a lingering image into your retinas? That's sort of the feeling I get from the combination of contrast and sheer number of elements on screen (roughly 300). It's just really visually overwhelming and genuinely hard to look at for more than a little while.

No, but that would be a good feature for them to add.

I have a similar problem with 3D modelled and/or very dark/black GUIs. No joke.

Grey/silver and a flat GUI is perfect for me.

It's great value but if you already have a half dozen or so of the usual synths you probably already have this covered. I can see some fun modules for VM coming from this though, that of more interest to me!
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
