Well, I cant see any versioning from the extracted archive I have, but the beta (vst3) that did not work for me is 7.29 mb, this version is 20.9 mb on my system...

Thank you for this. When you say "the folder", which folder are you referring to?Gamma-UT wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 8:38 pm It might be a permissions issue. I just noticed after installing 4.0.4 that Dropbox couldn't sync the contents (this is the first time I've installed ArcSyn on a relatively new machine, running Sonoma). The folder is owned by root rather than the user: it's possible this has thrown the installer.

Great, thanks for letting me know.pekbro wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 8:50 pm This version is working fine for me, not sure what the issue was with the earlier beta, but the issue
is gone. Thanks![]()

Hi, I remember that you contacted me directly about this issue. I'm afraid I still have no idea why this is happening. It seems only to happen on your Mac? It could still be my installer though. The installer builder I'm using hasn't been updated for Silicon and has a bug where one of the tabs won't display, so maybe I'm missing something important that is on the missing tab?killmaster wrote: Sat Oct 12, 2024 7:41 pm Hi Steven, I just downloaded the very latest and it won't install on my hard drive. I get the error message "Arcsyn can't be installed on this disk." I've had it running on this computer and never had this error with any other software before and I install a lot of software daily. You may already know about this but wanted to respond with my issue.

Yes.
I checked. I had installed 4.0.4 on February 8 2024 in my Intel Mac OS 10.14 just fine, but at the end of this install process the .pkg gives the yellow triangle warning that it cannot be installed on any drive.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that: it’s the presets folder that goes into ~/Documents.SPC Plugins wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 5:20 pmThank you for this. Okay, I'll look into this. At the moment the installer installs the presets folder to root (I think) then copies it to ~/Documents as I don't now how to install it to ~/Documents directly. To be honest, I do 99% of my development on Windows, partly because XCode is awful and partly to avoid having to type my password in every time I do anything at all, so I'm not much of an expert on Macs.Gamma-UT wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 6:15 pm Oh yeah, I totally forgot that: it’s the presets folder that goes into ~/Documents.

Bump because this is one of the most interesting, overlooked and underrated software synthesizers.

Hm, not sure about that. Though my computer is a 2015 iMac i7 so maybe there's some incompatibility with older machines? I'll be getting a new Mac Mini in November so hoping that may fix it for me. I really miss using it!SPC Plugins wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 5:32 pmHi, I remember that you contacted me directly about this issue. I'm afraid I still have no idea why this is happening. The issue is with the installer, which should work on any Mac. I think it's something to do with permissions, specifically for the ArcSyn programs folder. As there are no new programs in this update anyway, it may be worth trying the install again but unselecting the programs folder? Let me know if this helps.killmaster wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 10:10 am Hm, not sure about that. Though my computer is a 2015 iMac i7 so maybe there's some incompatibility with older machines? Hi Gamma-UT, in the installer builder the options for OWNER are:Gamma-UT wrote: Sun Oct 13, 2024 6:15 pm The folder is owned by root rather than the user: it's possible this has thrown the installer.
daemon
nobody (which is greyed-out)
root
stevencook (which is my user account)
It defaults to root. Which should I use?
Also, a related question: The installer builder only allows me to select system folders or my user account folders, but I'm not clear what use that is to make an installer for a different user on a different machine?

The installer doesn't even give me the option to select or not select a programs folder. I don't even know what that would be. Doesn't sound like a mac thing. I click on the package, then:SPC Plugins wrote: Tue Oct 15, 2024 5:19 pmThe issue is with the installer, which should work on any Mac. P.S. I just tried it on both my iMac and my Macbook Pro. Same thing on both.

As I mentioned above, exact same thing with me on Intel 10.14 - won't allow any Destination.
I installed 4.0.4 just fine in February 2004, so it's your new installer.
Never seen this with any installer before, so maybe caused by a wrong Action.
