Yep! I love it! They moved to Mastodon in the Fediverse. The Fediverse is awesome too, by the way. I went there in 2021 after leaving Facebook.

Can you please tell me where to find the bloat that got installed? I want to get rid of it but I don't know where it isTeksonik wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 2:05 pm I'm not afraid of Melda plugins and in fact I like the ones I own. What I hate is the 1.5 Gigs of bloat that's installed even if you only own a few Melda plugins.

You don't say what operating system you're on but on Windows it's:imanoob wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:28 amCan you please tell me where to find the bloat that got installed? 1.178 Gigs of disk space 3,196 files and 469 folders and there are other locations for the plugins etc. You'll just have to search your drive for any folders named Melda.
In my case that's for 3 paid plugins and the update of the free bundle to "pro" or whatever they call it. Keep in mind all the Melda plugins I own are effects plugins so no sample content other than a few impulse responses. I have hundreds of other plugins that don't require all that bloat combined.

I think with the Melda installer you can select only what you want install.Teksonik wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 3:15 pmYou don't say what operating system you're on but on Windows it's:imanoob wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:28 amCan you please tell me where to find the bloat that got installed? Wow you're right. For me the two biggest are MeldaProduction folders in ProgramData and AppData/Roaming. I have 3 free plugins installed..Teksonik wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 3:15 pm 1.178 Gigs of disk space 3,196 files and 469 folders and there are other locations for the plugins etc. You'll just have to search your drive for any folders named Melda.

You can select which plugins you want to install but it will still install all the other files for plugins you don't even own. Presets, styles, support files, etc. That's been the problem for many years and he is aware of the complaints yet still spews all that extra stuff on our systems. Very lazy, unprofessional, and disrespectful programming in my opinion.Examigan wrote: Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:13 pm I think with the Melda installer you can select only what you want install.
I broke down and installed the Melda plugins I own on my new studio system two days ago because I missed MReverb and again that's just three plugins and the upgraded free bundle.
There was only an option to select the plugins I wanted to install and the images above show part of what's installed. Give it a try yourself.
Again I like the Melda plugins I own, enough so that I'm willing to put up with 1.178 Gigs of disk space 3,196 files and 469 folders being installed much of which does me no good whatsoever.
I tolerate it but am vehemently opposed to the way Melda's installer works.

So it’s kinda like with installing a T-racks product and then everything else goes on there as trial versions?Teksonik wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:56 pmYou can select which plugins you want to install but it will still install all the other files for plugins you don't even own. No, it only installs the plugins you choose but also all the other stuff for every one of his other plugins. You could choose to install a plugin you don't have a license for and I assume that would function in demo mode.Examigan wrote: Mon Mar 17, 2025 1:59 pm So it’s kinda like with installing a T-racks product and then everything goes on there as trial versions?
Yes IK's T-Racks is another bloatware culprit if you don't own all the plugins but in that case you can just delete the .dlls of the T-Racks plugins you don't own.
You can't safely do that with Melda's support files since you're never sure which file might be a shared file across all plugins and they'll all just get installed again with every update.
His method of doing things is an choice not a necessity and quite frankly disrespectful to the systems of those who are paying customers....in my opinion of course.
There are people who think that every developer should have the right to do anything they wish to their DAW systems (such as Native Instruments which installs what is for all intents and purposes spyware and so on). I disagree with that opinion as someone who wishes to keep my DAW as lean and bloat free as possible.
Here's just a small snapshot of the kind of things that are installed along with every preset file for every one of his plugins whether you own them or not. Some files are duplicated in two different locations.

I installed the current PluginManager and (as an early MAdopter) I still have 518 .xml and .xmlbackups! from 2014 to 2019 for stuff I don't own, 52 folders from 2014-2017 with the old "MeldaProductionMNames" and 89MB of SoundFactory instruments.MeldaProduction wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 3:34 pmPluginManager optimizes this. Are those "optimized cross-dependencies?"

ffs, over 10 years later and people are still complaining about Melda's installation size?
I get that you may feel really strongly about that couple gig or whatever it is, but if you don't mind, I would like to give you a fresh perspective:
A little while ago, I bought EastWest Hollywood Choirs (or something like that).
I checked required space for installation and it said 60GB or something.
So I went ahead and bought it, and spent over an hour making the space on my near full C drive.
Made about 80GB space and the EW app told me it wasn't enough to install
Made over 100GB space and was told the same thing.
I even deleted parts of my sample library to make space!
Not sure how much I would actually need, but basically this thing is sitting unused and uninstalled, while my hard drive slowly fills up again.
But still... I'm not badmouthing on forums or complaining by email. Got better things to do.
No offence meant to anyone, but I honestly can see why Vojtech would think that this is not such a big deal!
That said, I did complain recently about some feature requests, but that was only because someone was already complaining about it.
And actually, I've already forgotten about those requests.
It's just like... yeah, whatever. Not worth worrying about.

I see you have posted dozens of complaints about Melda._al_ wrote: Sat Mar 22, 2025 12:34 am I did complain recently about some feature requests, but that was only because someone was already complaining about it.
Good for you!
Developers need users to tell them what doesn't work.
And what is really important.
Like 10-year-old folders

We can NOT remove the folders and presets! Think about it! There may already be something you made... you have no idea how complex this is...
