I won't miss aftertouch until I have plug-ins that use it and a controller that sends it. ;)

I actually never knew until this thread that it was a host issue. I always thought it would be either supported by the plugin itself, or not.

Hey Muff,

I like your tagline! (See, I don't read them either.) "It used to matter when we used to rock."

My wife and kids and I went to Nashvegas this afternoon for a surprise birthday party. One of my best friends turned 36. I'm about 4 months behind him. Are you feeling older too or is your tagline meant to be a general stab at youth culture?

That Bob Dylan interview on 60 minutes tonight was great. I'm serious.

Music is fun but getting something recorded and heard is a lot more complicated than it needs to be. There are so many people trying to get a piece of a very small pie.

I prefer the directness of painting. It's far more satisfying to know that I can create what I like and don't have to justify my work to anyone else. A painting doesn't need an audience or massive distribution and sales. The success is in actually making the painting. If it is appreciated by one person, it sells and I move on. Hopefully I learn and get a little better with each one.

When I do get a musical idea or want to record a few friends, Tracktion is nearly perfect for me. It's never going to be protools, thank goodness.

hehe thanks James

indeed i'm feeling old for sure

two kids and playing in bars where i feel like a geezer sure doesn't help

the tagline is actually something i stole from a Matthew Good Band lyric, and yes because it pretty much fully describes how I feel, not so much as a stab at the youngsters. I really can't figure out exactly when I got old

the full lyric is great and should be quoted just for posterity:
So put on British Steel
curse today and how ya feel

for everybody up and down my block
it used to matter when we used to rock
The track is 'Middle Class Gangsters' from Matthew Good Band's 'Underdogs' album. Great CD :)

My handle is a nice age indicator too, I just love all the old electro-harmonix stuff of the 70's (though their new stuff is nice too)

Anyway, i'm hardly one to nitpick about hosts, i use (and love using) cubase sx, a host so many consider convoluted, difficult and buggy. but it works fine for me 8)

I hear you about the complications of recording, releasing, exposure etc. I gave up on all that years ago and took a 'desk job', and i play now just for fun, doing the old bar thing with one other guy in the same boat, and recording little ep's just for kicks.

we just did a track for an upcoming tribute CD to Jay Farrar (uncle tupelo, son volt), nothing special, kinda hurried and unpolished, but you can hear our old school vibe, this isn't the normal KvR kinda stuff

check it out here if you want

cheers 8)

[it does say you recorded to protools... a fair thing]

but anyway, i'm sure mackie will send out an email.

but don't expect us here to shut up. i think there are more whining posts trying to stop the fun than there are hoax posts now. it's just messing around, and like they've said above, the people playing are usually the ones helping out the most.

to anyone who wants to start more threads trying to quell us - c h i l l o u t
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

@ all you people wingeing and whining (your words, but they seem appropriate on the other side of the fence too) about people trying to 'stop your fun' (you poor babies!)..

did you see my suggestion to use the [OT] prefix more often?

i hope this would satisfy both sides (making it easy for people to skip nonsense posts if they dont want to read them)..

is there anything wrong with this suggestion?

(btw: re the original subject of this thread.. i'd love to be able to rely on email updates too)

Can't wait to see ppl start spreading the humor to other forums. Com'on. Live by your words. This is KvR afterall, isn't it? :hihi:

Of course, as usual, we will email out any official T2 update information as it becomes available. We want you to be informed just as bad as you do.

Having said that, please check that your information at http://my.mackie.com/ is correct, especially if you think you missed a previous email.

And don't worry, I will of course post something here as well.

Two girls here and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's funny how age is relative to what you do. I definitely feel that, as a musician, the pressure is on to be there by the time you're 25. As a painter, I have a much longer lifespan. Many artists don't peak until they are in their 50's.

Back to music. You really have to hunt to find good stuff. It's out there, just not at the small town walmart. I know we don't shop there for music. Yet, walmart is the number one retailer for cd's. Is it any wonder that people over the age of 30 don't buy CDs and most kids would rather play video games?

"(In a video) you're going to do things that look good instead of sound good." Frank Zappa (standing next to a 6 foot tall kick drum in 1982.) I saw him in Louisville in 1985 on the "Them or Us" tour. I was 15.

Hey, good morning! Gotta run my oldest to school. (...and get my head out of software!)

One fine day in the mid-1990s the Australian distributor of my software phoned to tell me that his customers were displeased with the lack of a certain feature.

Quoth he: "Mate, they're mad as cut snakes."

Concise, picturesque, and spoken in just the right cool tone. :-)

Erm... and that's what Tracktion has done to help my music. (How's that for a feeble try at bringing it 'round to the topic? :-D)

Evening all. Cheers for the namecheck valley, for some reason that made my day :D (Is that sad? Dunno ... how sad is it? Don't care)

As for me, i'm still popping in every day, but not posting much recently, 'cos the hoax stuff is kind of going round in circles.

I reckon we should try a new tack, and hassle philip. The lazy bastard hasn't put up a decent Tracktion spoof picture in, oooh, at least three days.

What kind of service d'you call that, ex-head of spoof pictures at Raw Material Software? Eh? Eh?

Get with the program man, c'mon!
