I never did get an email from mackie when the last update came out. That was 1.6.0.1. I considered that they may not have sent one to mac users since final mix was promised to be in an impending release. Whatever the reason, I've considered the forum to be the best source for information until recently.

I suppose it's obvious to everyone else that the increased user base amounts to a lot of fluff postings. Really, the joke was funny the first 12 times but enough is enough!

I just had a great session yesterday in Nashville with a student. We recorded to protools using a g4 800 and apogee converters just like everyone else and that's just how it is. Read through my posts and you'll see I really love Tracktion but come on, it's only a tool. I recommend it highly to everyone precisely because it doesn't have many of the distractions recent forum posters seem to be asking for. The way I see it, Jules has done most of us a favor by keeping the focus on recording simply.

So why do so many people, including myself, keep checking here for some hint of news about T2? I don't know. What I do know is that I've gone from checking in once a day to maybe checking every other day or so (and ignoring any news reports unless it's beno or someone I recognize). Eventually, I'll stop checking the forum completely and that's just fine... as long as mackie sends me an email when the next update is released.

Yeah. Signal to Noise ratio is rather low these days.

Post

I think some people are seriously losing sight of the fact that this is KvR. :?

You want low signal and low noise, Mackie has a dedicated Tracktion forum here. Any major news will undoubtedly be posted there also.

Post

Actually valley, I would rate the Mackie site as "no signal at all". Last time I checked there were all kinds of questions with no response at all from Mackie on that forum.

What's wrong with not wanting to wade through a bunch of crap to get at a nugget of useful information?

"These days"? One week of people posting fluff "hoax posts" and suddenly the forum is in the shitter?

Get some perspective, folks. When there are legitimate questions, they get answered. In the meantime, if you select the "Raw Materials" forum, I highly doubt that out of the 30 (?) most recent posts that are shown, ALL of them are complete fluff and the legitimate questions are getting lost.

If you don't want to read them (I don't, either), just don't, and focus on the sensible questions.

Crikey... people really need a better sense of perspective. It's only a forum!

(Of course, key word being "forum"... it's not like this is the official website or FAQ site... there will be idiot posts just as there will be good posts. Like it or leave it, posts like this are even worse than the fluff posts because it's just negativity and whining.)

nothing, but this *is* KvR. Anyone who sets up a company forum on KvR has to accept the style of community that KvR is. The RMS forum is no exception.

I'd agree far more with you if this were a dedicated forum served by Mackie or RMS -- I do think the cubase and FL forums are way out of hand for example. The analogue though is the difference between holding a club meeting in a pub, or in a private house.

And once again I'd like to point out that sans Mod, AD80, chico, Jens, Lunch Money, and a handful of others it might be true there would be less noise, but there wouldn't be a lot of people helping out either. Just like the Mackie forums, basically.

edit: quote added -- Greg wrote an essay in the time I scratched together three paragraphs.

what missing things do you speak against?

a full midi implementation, including aftertouch?

PDC?

i can see why, as such a pro with your Pro Tools and Apogee converters, and students and all, 'distractions' like these wouldn't mean much to you.

note - i'm not a tracktion user, just a sometimes troll and alltimes bullshit spotter. take your choice ;)

We have that! ;)

ah whoopsie, my bad hehe

getting harder and harder for me to troll tracktion users huh?

well maybe one day you'll have aftertouch too. Daniel's Rhino Banks must only be half as fun inside that Tracktion thingy :hihi: I'll keep my fingers crossed ;)

Post

An email when the next version comes out is all I'm asking for.

I don't have protools. Never said I did. Just got some studio time. We've all been in a studio, right?

Post

Still wondering how you got the impression that I had protools.

My posting says Kentucky. Nashville isn't in Kentucky.

The student got a big graduation/birthday/christmas present from his folks - one day in a studio with an engineer. I owed him some lesson time and figured it would be fun. It was. It was also expensive.

Distractions? Well, I suppose it depends on the user. I still just think of Tracktion as a big tape deck. To each his own.

Again, Beno, please check to make sure that emails go out on the next updates. Thanks.

Well if you buy a copy of V1, you can learn all the things you can troll us with, at least until [groundhog]T2[/groundhog] is released. ;)

nah, who needs it...

hehe james, it's ok, i was only teasing

though it was prompted by your post which seemed a little elitist, then you started on a mini-lecture about how you know better than these users about what they need.

kinda asking for it, huh apogee boy?

tell me, have you missed aftertouch support in tracktion? did you even notice it was missing? ;)

(btw, to be fair, I'm still teasing. Like you said 'it's only a tool', and whatever tool works best for people, makes them happy and gives them what they need - is the right one for them. I'm not knocking tracktion or anything else, just having a wee bit of fun at your expense on a quiet sunday night... apologies ;) )
