I had a quick search and couldn't find much, but I do believe you. Thing is all products have their troubles, people spend stacks on Pro tools hardware and I'm sure they have hellish problems on occasion.

If you'd of said that USB 1.0 was more problematic as a generalisation I'd agree.

Firewire and USB 2.0 have a solid rep I think it's fair to say.

Search on "FW problem" indeed only recovered one incident. I just tried "firewire problem" and that opened the can of worms

Sure. Some PCI products have major issues with the drivers, especially Creative and E-Mu.

Yep, I agree... apart from a side note to the "solid" part. Once the FW interface is OK then it is solid. If not, it can be replaced to solve that problem. I believe there is a solution to all reasonable problems.
