Apparently you missed the part about "previewing them in the finder"... I didn't say I imported the file into another app... If T has a problem exporting 24 bit .aifs that's one thing. You said: some apps have problems importing Ts .aifs...
Really, anyone that says anything negative about this program, has dealt with you, so this is nothing new... If me complaining about things that don't work properly are upsetting you, don't respond. I have the right to expect value in the software I purchase, and fully test it's capabilities... i.e. does everything work?? Apparently, you seem to think I should be happy if it works "pretty good"... But that's your opinion... So maybe we shoud not let this get personal? I don't know you, and you don't know me? Let's keep it that way

DHR53, are you saying that Finder on a Mac isn't an application? What is it then? A jam sandwich?

The Finder is a part of the operating system... It displays files! You can't quit out of it, and you can't launch it separately from the system... And most importantly, you can't import anything into it... so what's your point... other than your a troublemaker...
The simple answer to my original post was: Tracktion won't export 24 bit aifs in the OSX version. Thanks!

Nope. The simple answer is the one valley originally offered. Have you actually tried opening them with another app?DHR53 wrote: The simple answer to my original post was: Tracktion won't export 24 bit aifs in the OSX version. Thanks!

They don't work in Logic

Presumably you could import wavs to Logic and re-export as aiff.. if you have an audio editor that would probably be better though.braj wrote:They don't work in Logic

It's still broken regardless. And I think working in AIFFs on the Mac without having to convert back and forth isn't an unrealistic expectation. I'm not certain, but I believe the ability to easily convert audio to Apple Loops in 7.1 is dependent on the audio being AIFFs, or you'll have to convert them manually.platinumears wrote:Presumably you could import wavs to Logic and re-export as aiff.. if you have an audio editor that would probably be better though.braj wrote:They don't work in Logic
I don't even know if he's using Logic though. DHR53, any reason you need to use AIFF as opposed to WAVs?

Now to the more important part of the discussion... the OS is more or less what you see when you drop down to the terminal (aka Darwin/BSD). This little program http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html will even let you enable the hidden "Quit Finder" command. The finder is indeed an application.
sorry, I've been sitting under this bridge too long...

Yep, it's broken. Yep, it's on the bug list to be fixed. Yep, aiff files open in some mac apps but not others. Yep, 24 bit aiffs have this problem. Yep, valley tried to offer a workaround until it's fixed. Yep, that was the wrong thing to do. Yep, Finder is a jam sandwich.
You gotta love people calling you for trying to help them.

I'm pretty sure some people reported that the AIFFs would open in some apps on the Mac. I wish I could remember which ones they were.
If you can replicate braj, perhaps you could raise it as a bug to ensure it hasn't dropped off the list.

I can't believe your still arguing about this... My original post stated that the wave played/previewed as noise... He said: "some apps have problems reading Tracktion's aiff files". Now I had not, at that time, imported this wav into any app, I simply previewed it in the finder like I do many times daily (remember T can't preview audio files?)... So clearly, Mr. Valley was implying that the App I imported this file into was the problem, NOT Tracktion... Which is what I read into his reply, and anyone else would! Then he said: you obviously didn't read my reply: f**k you! Your reply didn't say Tracktion won't export 24 bit wave files did it... No! You blamed it on the app I supposedly imported it into (the Finder?) WTF... this is ridiculous... BTW. Logic 7.1 and DSP Quatro BOTH display the file as a wall of noise... now what??platinumears wrote:Nope. The simple answer is the one valley originally offered. this is what valley said...
how does that imply it's not tracktions fault? He's implying that there is a problem with tracktion generated AIFFs... thus suggesting to try opening the offending AIFF in another app to see if it works as a work around. What part of that is not clear?I haven't really been following this cos OSX stuff is of little interest to me, but I recall there being issues with AIFF files. It seems some apps can import Tracktion generated AIFFs and others can't.
Try opening it in a few different programs.
