PG Music's Power Tracks Pro Audio - which you probably never even heard of.

It's a $49 app that migrated from old days of midi-only, but never really became the bloatware that some of the others that survive from that era (i.e. Cakewalk) have become.

Has a great notation editor built in. I wish T2 had the same.

Everything else I like better in T2 and it will serve me for a long time.

I still have my 3.5" disk with Power Tracks Pro on it. THat was my first sequencer! And despite it's old-fashioned-ness, it was, and still is pretty powerful. I wonder why they never went on with developing it in a deeper way than they did. They seem to give all their attention to Band-In-A-Box the last several years.

oh, and ProTools is my second, unless I'm in a session away from my home in a bigger studio sometime. Then it's usually first. But for any work where I choose, it's T2 all the way.

When I'm in weird-y soundscape mode (more and more these days) it's Audiomulch I reach for.

As for old school midi editing, Cakewalk express is still out there somewhere and is pretty powerful with it's filter options. Voyetras Sequencer Gold is also still available for free, hardcore DOS midi editing. Lovely. :)
