Shouldn't you be dedicating your efforts to Tracktion?Beno wrote:SM is not Cross Platform at the moment and neither are it's exported plugs. And believe me, you Mac users aren't missing anything (yet) by not having my plug-in. But the rest of the cool stuff being churned out though will be great.

A Why do mac heads think that us Windoze users are trying to cut them out of every deal, And why do the sound like such kids when they complain, Calm down and grow up, Go check the SM website and you will see Mac support is on the list after a stable initial release.
B I dont think this has anything at all to do with Beno's working obligations and considering he is the only person at Mackie i have built any trust for i would say he is doing his Mackie Tracktion duties very well (I friggin hate Mackie and that shows how much trust i have built for Beno so far)
C Shut the f**k up and let him enjoy some free time to win compos and syuff.

I really don't know where the hell that came from. Read my post again. There's nothing there, stated or implied, that deserves that kind of reply. The thread title didn't specify OS so I tried to ask in the nicest way possible. My second post was made in dissappointment but I never made the leap you suggest to "entitlement".
I just read your post again - "sound like such kids when they complain" - and think to myself "theres a case of the pot calling the kettle black."
...or don't you think that Mac users have a right to participate in this forum and hope for the same advancements that you do? Nevermind, after about a year and a half of defensive minded statements from Windows oriented KVR forum users like yourself, I should already know the answer to this question as well. I just don't like it.
I really don't like these computer "lines in the sand" I don't draw them but I won't back down either. You know, we all USED to be musicians.
Oh, and since I obviously wasn't clear before, congrats Beno. You seem like a nice guy and deserve a little recognition for a good straight forward design. SM does seem like a great software idea that greatly simplifies plugin development.
I'm sorry this came to a head in such a nice thread. I didn't start it but I won't get slapped by a bully and do nothing.

Calm down and stop acting like a spoilt child, I use OSX Windoze Linux Unix and OS4, I couldn't care less what computer or OS you use.
You think you are fed up with hearing Win users dissing OSX and i am fed up of the penis envy over windows only software, You can get a PC that will run a plugin and control it via MIDI for about £50 $100, So stop whining and go make some tunes.
Oh and lets not forget we get two licences for T.
One for Mac and One for PC maybe ?
If we were all once musicians just go buy the needed hardware and write a track.

I don't have to defend my right to ask a simple question, do I? Nobody else seemed to take my question out of context like you did.
If you don't care what people use, and claim to use OSX yourself, why make the inflamatory accusations to begin with?
I can see exactly what Beno was talking about in his thread on hostility.
The only entitlement I see is that you feel it's your right to call people names and insult them for asking questions in an open forum for all users.

As a Windows and a OS X Tracktion user I can safely say that not having all plugins cross platform is a drag.
Beatchild would be great to have on my mac (since it's so great) SM or SE stuff I dont toutch.
I'm still waiting for darwine
http://darwine.opendarwin.org/ so that it goes to the same level as wine for linux ( http://www.djcj.org/LAU/ladspavst/ ). that way we could probably go with all plugins (although they are not native) darwine will probably explode with the release of intel cpu based mac's
That will be the day.

Why do people think that coding for Intel based macs is goingto be any different to coding with IBM/Motorolla Macs ?
Not touching SE or SM is a way to go if you need only cross platform but if there is any other reason why you dont touch eitherof these i am eager to know what it is?
If it for the old chestnut of it isn't original i dont want to know thank you.
How something being an original design and creating great sounds relates i have never understood at all ?

Whow, kind of a hostile response there mate.
I did not say that coding in general would be any different, but there is no need to emulate the intel cpu (as the darwine project aim's for) when creating win32 api-emulation on the Mac. That is the difference, the second link shows linux users running windows vst's.
And so with the move to intel from apple, the darwine has a much shorter way to completion, thus meaning, that we mac users can run windows vst's on our mac's.
As for not touching, there are several reasons.
1. They are not cross platform.
2. I dont especially want to learn them since I'm a programmer by profession, its just easier to program stuff on my own then to learn something new.
