By the way, check out this video of CoreBass: Cherry Picked playing:
http://www.orangetreesamples.com/video/ ... Picked.wmv
(controller 64 is the sustain pedal, which enables the custom slide mode)
The demo uses the lite version of RevalverII that comes with Sonar. The bass sounds so nice going through amp/cab modeling!

Quick update on the upcoming CoreGuitar product. I've got most of the scripting done and will begin sampling soon. One of the things it will include is a bunch of impulses of guitar cabinets/amps, all within the Kontakt interface.

Hi Greg.
I'm not sure whether to ask here or in the Manytone forum, but I'm wondering if you would consider updating the Fretless and Upright Basses Kontakt version released on Manytone to include the new script. It just seems obvious to me that the Kontakt versions could benefit from the playability that the script adds. But ofcourse I dont know to what extend you and Paul work together on this...
If not - well, do you plan on releasing a Fretless bass? I'm about to buy the Fretless on Manytone for Kontakt, and I dont want to buy things twice, if you get my point
And just to kiss up..
I love ManyBass for many things, the Upright is killer and the Cherry basses have a great tone, which I like a lot. Thanks!

Since I didn't record hammer-ons and pull-offs and those sort of articulations that got specifically sampled for Cherry, I would have to emulate them in some way. I know what you mean, though, it would be great to apply some of the scripting technology to those libraries!metal wrote: I'm not sure whether to ask here or in the Manytone forum, but I'm wondering if you would consider updating the Fretless and Upright Basses Kontakt version released on Manytone to include the new script. The Manytone fretless bass would probably work the best with Kontakt scripting, because I could take the slide samples and turn them into interval legato. The Kontakt version of the Manytone fretless bass currently has round-robin cycling. It would probably be the best candidate for a scripting upgrade.
I'm not planning on it in the near future, especially since I spent so much time and effort making the Manytone fretless bass. So if I do sample another fretless bass, it's not going to be for a while, and it'll probably be a different bass.metal wrote: If not - well, do you plan on releasing a Fretless bass? Right after that the loop library will be released.
Greg, I just listened to the demos and find them great, and they seem to mix easily. Since I have other bass libraries, and each serves its purpose, I'm looking for the right excuse to buy this one too. The loop library would just be it. That's what made EZDrummer so great for all Non-Drummers, and I have been waiting for something like that to appear for bass guitar. That would really fill a niche; since a lot of us Non-Bassists just don't think like bassist, that would be my top-notch argument to make work easier, get some inspiration and learn. What would be really, really helpful is something that covers typical stlye basics (like in EZErummer for Drums), even if that would't take full advantage of all the fine scripting technology you're trying to implement (but of course it would be great, too, if there were some presets for that too that could be used as copy/paste building blocks, e.g. if you're working mobile and/or don't have a keyboard).
Could you please put a couple of rendered style demos on your site when the loops finished? I'm really looking forward to it.

We've got a bunch of loops together already, in various styles and tempos. They're MIDI files, so to use them you have to import the MIDI data into your project. The MIDI files are all named with genre, tempo, and other appropriate information in the filename, so they're easy to navigate.
I've also been working a lot on the guitar library, and it's going to be really great!

Greg, may I inquire what kind of guitar you are using?Gregjazz wrote: I've also been working a lot on the guitar library, and it's going to be really great!
I would love to hear something other than a Stratocaster... I have a couple of strat sets, and it is hard to get them to sound "non-strat" , if you know what I mean. (not that there is anything wrong with that
I am always looking for something fuller sounding, maybe with a humbucker.
you do great work... both with the cherry bass, and with manytone.

It's a Hagstrom Select Swede. Two humbucking pickups, and sounds amazing!misterg wrote: Greg, may I inquire what kind of guitar you are using?
The sample library is coming together nicely, too. I've got a bunch of new, cool scripting stuff that I can't wait for people to try out!
Well, you're in luck then! Yeah, everyone does strats, so it's a pleasant surprise when other kinds of guitars are sampled.misterg wrote: I would love to hear something other than a Stratocaster... Yup! It works great with a little crunch, or even full distortion. I am putting in a lot of work on the library--just to give you a sense of how extensive it is, with all the articulations enabled, there are around eight velocity layers.misterg wrote:![]()
great news.
I am really looking forward to this one now.
Should be easier to dial in some crunchy dirt with humbuckers
And then each string is sampled individually, and there are the sampled intervals...

Since I'm a guitarist myself, that will always be the instrument I will never sample, as a principleGregjazz wrote:We've got a bunch of loops together already, in various styles and tempos. But I'm really curious about the bass loops! When will we be able to listen to some demos created with the loops?

Basically the loops are 2-4 bar basslines in many various styles and tempos in MIDI format. I wish Kontakt had MIDI playback abilities for built-in loops, because then I could do something a lot more elaborate...kingofthedogs wrote:But I'm really curious about the bass loops! By the way, as a quick reminder, the introductory $10 discount on CoreBass: Picked expires tomorrow (Friday the 12th).

Okay, quick preview of the upcoming CoreGuitar product:
http://www.gregjazz.com/upload/distantguitar.mp3
http://www.gregjazz.com/upload/rockout.mp3
Both played live into the sound recorder. No keyswitches, just notes.
The spring on the pitch wheel on my keyboard is broken, so there's no tension, so forgive any out-of-tune guitar.
There's still a lot of work to be done and more articulations to sample.

Which Amp Sim did you used on these examples ?
Sounds nice by the way
