Is it really though? If that was true it's a sad comment on what the masses think is a "flagship". CS80, Jupiter 8, OBX-a, Prophet 5, etc and the done to death mindlessly simple MiniMoog is the "flagship" in any way ? I don't know if that would say more about Arturia or its user base. :?
Well let’s say it’s their “signature” synth, then. It’s the one that put them on the map 20 years ago.

Or hear me out....synths with no competition should be a priority. There are still a lot of synths out there with no emulations or at least don't already have a half dozen emulations from various developers. The MiniMoog is about as low hanging fruit as it gets.....
Sure. I’m also tired of TubeScreamer and Big Muff models. But that’s what everyone makes instead of BF-2 and MXR 117 models. In business you have to do what everyone else is doing. That’s just how it works apparently. Everyone just wants what everyone else has.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Not everyone buys 800 synth plugins so I'm guessing for most that own the collection its their only minimoog. And minimoog is a very important sound.

Also I think with the sound of the new Mini, it actually is their new flagship as far as I can tell from presets. It sounds really awesome.

No idea why mine is $149. Like you, i have FX Collection (mine is 2.x) and VC9. What may have tipped the extra $50 off, is I had purchased Augmented BRASS in May on sale for $29. It is $99 now, so maybe that triggered the additional $50 off. Dunno. tbh -- Aug. BRASS has sat idle since May. Other music priorities have taken my time.. so, there's that.

jdoo wrote: Thu Dec 14, 2023 6:12 am Was thinking this wasnt going to be worth the upgrade from VC 9.. but downloaded the updated mini v (4) and it sounds fantastic. Also played around with the MiniFreak which has some interesting presets. The CP-70, purely for nostalgic reasons.. appeals. Anyway - the Augmented stuff I havent leaned into, tbh - but the demos sound like they have stuff I can use. So.. with an upgrade price of $150 for me ( VC9 + earlier Fx collection ) -VC X is on my Christmas '23 list now..
I've got vc9 and fx3 and pigments and it's 199. Do you have acid v or something already? How is it 149?

Someone already posted the pricing scheme. It has to do with how many plugins you own in the newest V (which is X) plus which previous version you own. It has nothing to do with any other Arturia product (which is a correct way of handling this).

I own V9 plus Aug Piano, Aug Brass, and MiniFreak. My upgrade is $99. For the record I own every other Arturia software product all the way back to Collection V3, as well as Pigments and FX Collection 4 (started at 1 and updated every step along the way) and the new EFX. Sooooo....look back for the pricing scheme which probably explains better than I did...

But your upgrade is only related to what you have in the V collection.

seangm wrote: Wed Dec 13, 2023 7:09 pm How do you filter by the Mini 4 patches? I updated to the latest Analog Lab and only see a way to sort by "Mini" but I have no idea how to find the Mini 4 patches. Thanks.
These are just named Mini.

If you filter by Mini, then you get all the patches for v3 and v4. If you put Instrument as one field, then you can sort to just show the v4 (named simply Mini).
Thanks, it took me a while to find where "INSTRUMENT" is since it's not displayed by default. If anyone else is wondering, look for the hamburger menu (should be next to "BANK") and click it and select "INSTRUMENT".
Thanks. Indeed, you have to hit ‘Explore’ in the left pane, and then, to the right of ‘Name’ and ‘Type’ you have to select ‘Instrument’ from the third category (with ‘Designer’ and ‘Bank’ as the other options).

I found 60 “Mini” presets apart from some 180 older “Mini (V3)” ones.
And those 60 “Mini” presets are indeed Mini V4 ones, as I can’t edit them in Analog Lab (telling me I need to own the full version of Mini V4 to access all parameters).

Some pretty amazing sounds among those 60 Mini V4 presets in Analog Lab! Sweet.

Re: Mini V4. With the V Collection X purchase you see 161 mini V4 presets. There are some spectacular sounds in there.

When does this typically go on sale? Do I have to wait for Black Friday next year?

I have V Collection 9, FX Collection 3, Minifreak and a bunch of other things and my upgrade price is 149.
149 for 5 new instruments + 2 rebuilt + 3 new expansion packs .....
These numbers might be OK, the question is how good these 5 new and 2 rebuilt instruments.
I'm not a fan of augmented series , so for me Acid V, CP-70 v, Mini V, Wurli V remains as value.
149 / 4 = ~37 per instrument ....
The question: how good these four are

I would drop that all the way down to the Acid V and a passing interest in the Mini V, but honestly neither of them
excite me that much. For me anyway it’s the most meh version yet.

On the other hand, the Minimoog is really well-known. It wouldn't surprise me if the Mini was one of Arturia's most popular V synths.

Sir, what you are saying makes no sense.

Cops - pls arrest him.

I will wait for the 99 upgrade price, maybe some xmas discount or new year discount....
Anyway If I skip this X there are just enough synths in my pocket : )

I'm a fan of the V Collection, but I'm going to be honest I don't see anything in there that makes me want to upgrade, especially not for 299€. I originally got V Collection 8 for 199€, I understand that this is very cheap for what you get, but I don't make the pricing. I can just observe that I would have to pay a lot more to get a lot less.

briefcasemanx wrote: Fri Dec 15, 2023 12:16 am And minimoog is a very important sound.
It was....in 1980, around the time I first played one. Oh sure, back then we were "this is awesome" but now over 40 years later....nah.

With all the incredibly powerful synths at our fingertips these days the MiniMoog is a toy. A toy that is for whatever reason popular with people not around during those days but a toy none the less.

If the MiniMoog is their "signature synth" in the collection then they have failed....hard.

It wouldn't surprise me but it would disappoint me that people still consider the little MiniMoog relevant in 2023 with so many awesome synths at our disposal now.

The CS80 is one of the best known synths in the business. If the MM is more popular then that says a lot more about the current user base than Arturia's skill.

That's right, you tell 'em. I played a vintage Gibson Les Paul in 1980. Used to think it was great. Now I'm all grown up, I only ever play this, and I am a boss.
