Even if I were one of you plebes (just kidding!) I would still exercise logical thinking about it. I mean, Jules says there are programmers. Beno says there's development. We DID get a fairly recent update (not recent compared to eXT users, but not horrible), and there has been a big marketing push, including an obvious presence at various trade shows.

It doesn't take an insider to conclude that Tracktion is being worked on!

Well, it's pretty much the same. I'll agree that it's not absolutely loaded to the boobies with new features.

However, the addition of (and subsequent FIXING of when it was reported as broken! Unresponsive? Hrm...) loop audio recording mode has made a world of difference for me already. That, and there are just certain small details that I really like... the new input device mode, the ability to hide the inputs and/or filters, the MIDI improvements (which aren't really that important to me except that velocity lane, which I use all the time). The Aux Sends (though I was using Senderella before... the world at large doesn't necessarily know about Subminimal (though they SHOULD!)) are surely handy for people. The new plug-ins are either hit or miss depending on who you are, but for me they're hit.

I dunno... I'm of two minds....

I'd be lying if I didn't say I secretly was wishing to have just heaps of new VISIBLE features (there are many new features, but some of them are just hidden and people forget that they're there) when T2 came out.

But on the other hand, I was pleased that it retained the look and feel that I had grown to love. I was glad that it stayed true to itself.

Afterthought (unrelated)-- I was sort of mulling over people's points, and it occurred to me: People talk about this legendary Golden Age in which feature requests were posted in the forum and then implemented within days! I don't remember those days. I don't mean that I wasn't around. I mean, I wasn't around WAAAAaayyy back, but I've been around since 1.4 if I'm remembering my version release history correctly. I don't recall ever seeing someone's quickly-written FR just magically appear in a new build a few days later.

I think it's just a part of this strange mythology people have developed. I mean, as a fan, I SHOULD be the one with some sort of sense of the "legend and myth", but it seems to be the dissatisfied people who are holding more onto tenuous and ghostly memories.

I'm not saying that it never happened. I'm sure it DID happen, particularly in 1.0 - 1.4, which are the true early days. But of the people who are complaining and using THAT as one of their premises, did they ever SEE this happening, or experience it happening? I doubt it, in most cases. In most cases, they probably just heard about those days through someone else and just took it at face value. Well, I don't buy it. It wasn't AS interactive and immediate as people seem to think, and when it WAS, they were certainly smaller features. The first HUGE feature request that saw light of day that I'm aware of was Rack Filters, and as we all remember, that took FOREVER.

What seems to get forgotten here (and the gentleman who raised the point about Hurricane Rita has a prime example) it that THIS IS MERELY SOFTWARE. It's relatively inexpensive software at that. Life goes on. Music has been made for thousands of years. Loads of excellent recordings have been produced without the aid of any software. If the power went out today and didn't come back on, would you still be making music of some sort? I would imagine so, for most of you, and definitely for myself.

It's only software.

I hate the "it's only software" argument. I do this for a living, so are you saying "it's only a living"?

No, I'm saying that if you make your living with a tool that costs probably less than a weeks' profit, having to replace that tool with one that works for you should not prevent you from making your living.

And, my current life situation makes arguments about who's developing a piece of software that works as advertised a bit trivial TSTL. I probably should have kept my comments to myself.

Jules is still developing JUCE, which means that he is also still developing the backbone of T, just maybe not so much of the front end.
