I like Dan's very in-depth and informative videos but it's a paid-for endorsement by Branworx. Does that completely invalidate everything he says about the plugin? No, but it hardly constitutes a significant endorsement when it's been commissioned.

Re: Pros still use Waves.

Yes, and stock plugins.

Calling your detractors snobby plugin collectors who don't even make music, is a bit spiteful. Dude... You have a bit of nerve coming in here with 15 posts on the clock and saying that to a veteran like Ploki.

Live and let live. I'll try this plugin when it's $20 :)

One thing I can't understand is how is it possible that SSL console plugins have a cramping free eq, and the more recent ones focusrite and amek have this cramping in the HMF band. I mean, if you know how to avoid a problem, why don't? I can't find a reason. Why don't reuse code for that?

They don't challenge me or anything I say, they, or better, you, resort to personal attacks against and some half-assed attempts of discreditation because you're for some reason offended i said a bad thing about a plugin and a company you like.
Nobody is offended by what you say; your spam is simply annoying. We don't care about Dirk Ulrich like you do, and not everybody is convinced that the issues you raise about non-oversampled THD and such are going to cost anybody their Grammy. There are plenty of people who raise issues about plug-ins and present their analysis in a balanced, objective way.

Dan Worrall just put out a video doing that very thing. For example, when he pointed out the HMF cramping, he didn't attack Dirk Ulrich's car or whatever. Instead, he explained how it may affect your use of the plug-in, he mentioned previous content he's made about this topic in which he explained how it might not affect you, and he moved on. Simple, clear engineering information.
Or you can stalk me cross-platform, it doesn't look creepy at all
Right. Seeing your comments in PA threads and YouTube videos and then remembering them later is stalking you. Who's taking things personally here?

Post

You’re really comparing a paid review by a public person to a forum post of a non public person?

Also i dont think i commented on any yt videos - not my habit

This is a lie you and Ploki are now apparently trying to spread as misinformation. The video was made no involvement with Brainworx, which Dan Worrall states very clearly in the first 30 seconds of the video. He gives a balanced look at the plug-in that examines its technical behavior and draws conclusions about how it affects the sound and workflow--and some of them are negative conclusions. I suggest you actually watch the thing.

Post counts: another one of those important technical topics, like Dirk Ulrich's car. Again, we see the suggestion that people are trespassing if they challenge the cross-site spam. There are plenty of people with differing opinions about PA who remain civil and are just looking for tools to get their work done. However, it's obvious when someone is fretting over the wrong things, addicted to the acquisition of plug-ins or generating personal drama rather than using these things to get work done.

Post

Dan's opinions and people having GAS is completely irrelevant to PA not fixing bugs and having poor customer support. What you're doing, bonch, is the stereotypical fanboy defense of a company. It's sad to watch, man. Grow a spine, please.

You didnt challenge me at all, don’t flatter yourself - you’ve complained about me but i’ve yet to see an actual argument that’s not a character assassination posing as a valid opinion.

I have less plugin licenses than there are plugins in the mega bundle.

Fact is that a lot of people were personally attacked by Dirk. Generally, plugin devs don’t go around various social platforms attacking random people for expressing an opinion or stating a fact about their plugin. I think it’s a valid aspect of a company and developer.

Totally agree. Want to buy this just because I love how it looks.
I don't actually use any of the plugins I buy, I just fill my screens with them and stare at their pretty colors for hours on end with a vacuous grin on my face. :D
That would be two of us :hihi:
You're lame guys. I just keep them looking nice & pretty in their respective folders :P

But it isn't a paid-for endorsement by Brainworx, it's simply his own view/review of the plugin. Apart from his paid reviews (Fabfilter etc), he has done a number of separate videos on varied subjects. He makes this very clear BTW and even goes as far as to say he bought another PA plugin he doesn't like but didn't mention it as it's just his personal preference.

What I wonder is: uncramped EQ bands and oversampling, we all know that PA/bx can do those things, so why not put them into the plugin to start with? Why decide against totally normal and CPU-wise completely insignificant processing steps that would upgrade the quality of the product a lot, especially its closeness to the real world device, knowing (I assume) full well that people are going to complain about it once they notice it's not there? Was the decision that people are going to post about it, and 'all publicity is good publicity'? Or to look good in the public eye, as a 'developer who responds to community wishes', if people keep complaining about something over and over, and PA/bx eventually decide to implement those things in an update? Pretty weird choice.

And fwiw, to me the Worrall video is in no way a positive video. He keeps pointing out how inaccurately modeled it is, how the developers cut corners and could have done better, how the argument of 'it needs to be like this because the hardware is like this' is only selectively applied to some stages, how sticking to that argument maims the plugin's abilities by enforcing an unflexible workflow (EQ pre/post/sc switches), but how the argument is then largely disregarded for other important stages (like parallel compressor and limiter) for no apparent reason, just because. And let's not forget how he labels TMT, one of the plugin's main selling points, as irrelevant or even undesirable. To my perception, he clearly points out what a second-class product in today's vast plugin market this thing is. It tries to come across as a truthful emulation of vintage hardware, but in so many ways fails to deliver on that promise, and it tries to be a modern and convenient digital plugin, but in so many ways fails to deliver on that promise as well. Sure, you could defintively live with its shortcomings and survive, if its feature set and wokflow fit your expectations, you could even create a decent mix with it. But why would you want to, since there are better alternatives. At least that's how I understand his video.

Can you back this claim up? Do Worrall or PA/bx mention this somewhere? At 0:22 in the video, I can quite clearly hear Worrall say, 'note that this video isn't sponsored in any way, not even with a free copy of the plugin'.
Confucamus.

He's from Dundee. That would be Scotland.
