As you add more instances of multi-threaded Divas it does seem to increase the cpu consumption of each instance.
I have only observed this in logic, which shows the load on each of the cores - too hard to gauge using lives single CPU indicator.

Live tends to get drops outs when the CPU goes over 50%.
Generally increasing the buffer size will clear this up.

What buffer size are you running at?

if you have 4 cores and 4 instances you have 1 core per instance... multi-threading only really works for 1 instance. So freeze is still necessary, but you can play in realtime when you couldn't before.

64-512 I tested several buffer settings. I like to keep it as small as possible within reason. obviously you can push things harder at higher buffer settings but I found I could push the cpu to 60-70 before getting any issues but when I switched multi-threading on I would get issues at much lower cpu 30-40 and very noticeable dropouts. all I'm using is the built in cpu meter in live though so I'm not sure how accurate that is, but generally for me the synth functions better with the multi-threading turned off.

note: I just did some testing in Logic, there seems to be little difference between multi-threading and no multi-threading and sure enough when I look at the cpu meter it's only using one of the cores.. *shrug* I don't really use Logic so I don't care to investigate. So for me it looks like the issue is confined to Live. I'll just continue to use diva with multi-threading off, she still works fine that way.

Doesn't Live deal with the cores in its own particular way? I don't understand how it functions but I would imagine whatever multithreading optimizations Diva has could be negated by the way Ableton is allocating resources.

Logic shows its only using one core, but it must be using more, because I can go from blowing out a core in divine mode (multi-threading off) to quite easily being able to play 8 voices with it on. I suspect when a plugin is using multi-threading the logic meter is not built to show that.

I just updated to 1.1 (OSX 10.6.8 / Ableton Live 8.3 / AU) and some of my MS20 patches doesn't sound the same as they did before the update :(

edit : I mean in a quite obvious way, as if some settings were modified.

PS : DIva sounds better than ever, great work Urs & team !

Hi Nil,

can you send us a preset or two with different sound (before saving it with the current version)

Email sent, thank you so much Urs !

Hi all,

Sorry, no release today :-(

We're fighting some hanging notes again and some other issues that were believed to be fixed long time ago.

With some luck we get another release candidate out tonight.

Grrrm.

BTW I think these (very minor) graphical bugs are already known, yes?

Double clicking the "Tune" knob when the value is 30 makes the Range or VCO2 (etc) knob disappear.
LED lights "float" on things like the DCO waveforms if you assign a controller which doesn't correctly step the values.
Set the GUI higher than standard sized and text in "patch information" doesn't line wrap when it's a longer line.

Yes, those graphics glitches have to wait until I can finally finish work on the overhauled gui library. Which is pretty much my next big project after Diva 1.1 release.

I maybe missed this at some point but was there discussion about adding level adjustment to the saw and sqr DCO OSC's like on a Juno60? Is that still in the works? Sorry if that has been recently discussed.

Only the SH101 has adjustable volumes for different waveforms...

We're contemplating some updates with added features for the not-so-distant future though...

hahaha that's what i mean actually.. the worst part.. a juno 60 sits right beside me   Thanks for the info regardless! I look forward to it

And an Arpeggiator in DIVA would be nice.
