I’ve informed some Swifties I know that vurt keeps referring to her as ‘Tay Tay’. He’s skating on very thin ice.

Just made me think that if our angry antipodean here were to cultivate a more amenable and cuddly nom de plume, then perhaps the very knowledgeable industry people would perchance see the folly of their assessing Ms Swift as superior to novakrill. How about Bon-Bon, or Bobo?

‘Bobo’ in Spanish means ‘stupid’…

(an English friend nicknamed their child called Billy Bob ‘Bobo’, always made me chuckle)

Ah, hence the name of the clown? (not of course the esteemed crooner of the novakrills)

"nova" means to explode in brightness while "krill" is a Norwegian word that means small fry of fish, so "novakrills" are exploding fish, a perfect name for a band with an angry singer who lives on a boat

He is doing a pretty good marketing job as everybody is talking about his band name when we should be talking about THE event of the week: OBJEKT from Reason Studio being out... And as we have established that there is no such thing as synth overload, we should be discussing financing solution's :hihi:

This! If memory serves me correctly, Bones tried (and failed) to school you on CPU architecture and when it transpired that you were vastly more qualified and experienced (masters or PhD in computing and or IT manager IIRC), he dropped out of the discussion faster than his Monday morning dump at the office (after a weekend of holding it in!).

This is not the behaviour of someone genuinely interested in furthering their own knowledge or engaging in meaningful discussion for the benefit of those reading from sidelines, it's the behaviour of an insecure arsehat trying to be the smartest guy in the room at all times, and coming up short (on a regular basis). Most of us grew out of this phase in our teens (if we had a know-it-all phase, I did, but I can't speak for others), but for whatever reason, even with retirement knocking his door, he's still behaving like an insecure adolescent trying to impress those around him with his "superior knowledge" on anything and everything.

It's sad, it really is and on top of that he as the gall to try and lecture the rest of us on what "behaving like an adult" looks like. Sort your own house out first, JFC xD

100% agreed. Anyway let's not make him further more the "objekt" of our discussions (lame pun very much intended).

Moving swiftly on from obnoxious (that was a new word for you at the time!) to objekt! How is it? Physical modelling is something I want to explore a bit more of, because most of the time I just end up with garbage. I've made a couple of nice patches with the Dissonant comb filter in Hive, but I wouldn't say I've mastered it. It's kind of similar to FM, whereby I'm drawn to it because it's a different flavour to va/wavetables, which are my bread and butter, but I don't get as good results and so my interest wanes and I go crawling back to what I know and the cycle starts over!

Are you using it for drums/percussion, strings plucked or blown, abstract atmos or something else altogether?

I have it only since few days but for drum and percussions it is definitely awesome. First the sound is very very convincing. 2nd, you have a ton of parameters that you can slightly modulate while you play to get a very organic feel. I have UVI Percussion which is very very well sampled, but to me physical modeling is more realistic because it brings this variability.
After I tested it for a lot of plucks and it is very good too. For blown and Atmos, I have yet to really test... I used a bit of pads but it was just ok for what I have seen.

For Physical modelling actually it is really really hard to make it yourself. They have a few parametric resonans bodies that are fully configurable but if you don't know the physical property of what you are trying to replicate, it is very very complex.
For example, when you change the pitch of your instrument, some part of the body are resonating accordingly but not all, some parts are not dependant of the pitch. And it goes by resonating bodies and frequencies (I am probably not clear but Reason Studios has made a very interesting feature about it).

A very good tool Objekt provide is you can start from one sound you like, and then use a randomise function. If your next sound goes in the direction you want. You have a slider to merge both the source and destination sounds. That's a really handy way to create what you want.

So Bones is comparing him self to Jordan Peterson now? The dude that signed up and presented himself to debate marxism with Žižek? and with 4 months notice the only thing he could read was the Communist manifesto and didn't know Hegel's work while claiming he is all for western traditions?

Sounds about accurate.
