i'm just too lazy to start up the virtual machine each time i reset this one
it's on now.
you should check out the new effects if you're grabbing xhip again. i've also got xhip nearly functional again with the new gui stuff so hopefully a new release isn't too far off.
i also "fixed" the site again. i hope h1 tags aren't too huge with default fonts, i think i use a much smaller font than most people.

I'm gonna make some music soon, so when I use them I will post up and let you know
I like that you have gone for modular fx, good move
All success

Just checking in.
A suggestion for the compressor...a "Reduction Meter" to gauge how much compression/db reduction is actually going on would be a nice touch.

as you know, i'm not very big on the whole gui thing.
i planned to add activity LEDs to my limiter showing -3, -6 and -12 (green, yellow, red), but for the compressor it would require so many due to the massive range of reasonable activity i'm not sure if it makes sense or not.
it could certainly have a basic activity meter with the same three LEDs, but i'm not sure if it would be accurate or just a light-show.
light shows are perfectly cool, but that's a "final stages of tweaking the gui" type of thing and not really a basic feature.
i'm trying to get the complete set of effects updated for now, and most importantly trying to find a way to put them into a similar looking gui style while still allowing them some distinction. i don't want to use coloration because that looks like a pride parade (not that there is anything wrong with that) and using great bold letters saying "CMP-1" or something like a guitar pedal can get kind of annoying just like the colors can.
i probably need to move the controls around by hand and stylize things a bit more to get distinction between the effects, i'm not sure yet.

Whatever you do with that new gui, please continue compiling a version with the old gui too.
I got too used to the old one.
TIA

to save kvr from supporting endless stupid "plz finish xhhip" threads, i've created my own
http://presetexchange.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=4
i'll be able to clean things up and keep different aspects of the thread separate unlike what has taken place on kvr.
yes, i could have also asked for a kvr sub-forum for xhip long, long ago.

Why don't you just finish the synth, so we can have a "Xhip -plz update your synth" -thread instead?aciddose wrote:to save kvr from supporting endless stupid "plz finish xhhip" threads, i've created my own

I don't like to register on new fora...
Maybe you should put a link to your Xhip thread in your signature.

i could change it to support guest posts,
i just figured it could support more specific discussion.
no, xhip is getting finished. i'm half way through making the changes for a 1.0 version.
registration there is just for the purposes of identifying your posts of course - i could also enable guest posting but that'd result in crazy fun times with bots posting viagra ads.
the email stuff is disabled, so you just put in a pass/nick/email and that's that.
anyway i'd advise anything xhip-specific to be posted in individual threads either on kvr, or preferably on the new xhip forum. this super-thread thing is kind of silly.
i have new working xhip versions if anybody wants to be involved in testing and opinions on the final free version.

If you'd like this thread locked, after you post whatever directions you want on proceeding with new thread(s), just send me or another mod a PM. Or it can remain open if you prefer.

i don't mind it being open, just that it's a mish-mash of all kinds of posts and topics that ideally would've been separate. i pity the people who want to look up something about xhip and read through this whole thread. mostly it's my fault i suppose for not really bothering the whole time to do anything about it
i'm just giving a heads-up that i now have a specific forum up for anybody who wanted to ask additional questions or start up discussions in a community more directly tied into xhip.
it's of course easier to watch the "xhip forum" to see if any new threads or posts are made compared to checking this one thread.
also just to exclaim "I'm not dead!"
"What?"
"Nothing. There's your ninepence."
"I'm not dead."
"'Ere, he says he's not dead. "
"Yes he is."
"I'm not."
"He isn't."
"Well, he will be soon, he's very ill."
"I'm getting better."
"No you're not, you'll be stone dead in a moment."
"Well, I can't take him like that. It's against regulations."
"I don't want to go on the cart."
"Oh, don't be such a baby. "

Excited about it all- conversion to floating point code for all parts of xhip in order to benchmark performance (where int code is a benefit it will hopefully remain, but this is not always practical with the other changes being made)
- changes to modulation allowing for block-processing
- new oscillator code is in progress which should eliminate the bugs which had existed in the past with xmod and sync
- many new waveforms for the new oscillator will be possible as well as unison for all of them
- the preset format is being streamlined and "fixed" as in nailed down / finalized so it can be saved in project files
- some rarely used features are being considered for removal including per-sample accurate pw/tuning modulation (which it's likely nobody ever knew it had in the first place)
- gui code has been redesigned and now allows for far better effects
- a new gui is planned, but hasn't been designed or tested yet, haven't started at all on this
- the old guis (branis, limeflavour, simpleslider, gsoto and standard) will be updated
- the default release versions will no longer depend upon external gui modules as this makes things easier for users - a default gui will be included in the dll and others will be selected optionally
I'm sending good vibes of support !
May creating/finishing/modifying the synth give you as much or even more joy than using it gives me.
