"RadioActive Cave" is actually a strip-joint-sex-club in Alhambra that is somewhere down on Cahuenga Blvd.
And 'stalactites'?
Don't ask.![]()

Very exciting update. I'll be very interested to see what the morphing wavetables are like, particularly if some of them are designed to do dramatic PPG-like wave scans between multiple waveforms. And the section locking...awesome. Being able to "imprint" certain aspects of a sound on other sounds will be so useful.
Oh, and I'm sure others noticed (didn't read the whole thread), but Eric has obviously lost weight and is looking so fit. Good for him!

Yes indeed, I am looking forward to the wave tables and the new granular engine with sample import. I also am looking forward to the wider interface and hope that it will improve my experience with the synth.Vectorman wrote:Very exciting update. I also noticed that Mr. Persing is looking fit compared with old videos. He also looks rather smiley and happy. I am turning 50 this year and wish to do something similar - lose weight and become more fit!

Look at the 24:20 point and they are still pictures of people moving across a background. It just looks totally fake!! Can anyone expand or confirm this maybe if you are familiar with photoshop or working with photos/videos?

Love Omnisphere 1..... bought it before the "grace period". Mr Persing is free to run his business as he wishes.....but I find $249 a wee bit steep for customers who already payed $500+ for it. So yeah, no thanks. Would have preferred updates.... don't need more "bowed butterfly-wings in a pingpong ball" sounds especially now that it can load up our own samples. Great synth though. But for those who bought it within the "grace period"...congrats, you're a better valued customer to Spectrasonics. Just my 2 cents.

I agree and disagree. I think it's fair that this upgrade be about 1/2 price of the product's MSRP. Also we are not forced to upgrade.liquid light wrote:Love Omnisphere 1..... bought it before the "grace period". What I DO see is a bit unfair is to announce a grace period 3+ months in advance. So now people will jump on ship and get the V2 upgrade for free, while long time loyal customers, who have poured hundreds/thousands already into Spectrasonics products pay $250. I have absolutely no problem when companies release a product the day of announcement and give a month or so grace for those who JUST bought the product, didn't know the upgrade was coming soon and didn't have time to get their $500 worth out of Omnisphere 1 yet.
Whether or not I like that, they're getting my money and they know they would. So from a business point of view it's definitely a strategic move. Sell all the old stock quickly by giving several months heads up with the promise of a free upgrade...and all those current loyal customers MUST be willing to pay $250, right? I mean they're loyal, repeat customers, of course they would. And yes, I do think the additional features and content will be well worth $250 or $199 for VIP customers.
I guess it's gonna really hit hard if they release upgrades for Trilian or Stylus. Total of likely more than $400 in upgrades for all three products for VIP customers, yikes. It would be awesome if they released upgrades for all 3 and offered a "VIP Trio Upgrade" for something like $300 to upgrade all 3 products at once.

This will be my 'big' purchase of this year. Just have to hold on from purchasing anything else in the meanwhile.

So I've watched Eric's demo twice and thanks the whole team for bring us such a powerful synth !
I also heard some "noises" from the existing users regarding the price (including the upgrade). To me, I don't have version 1 and like a previous member mentioned, someone may not interested in those cave/sugar packet/coins etc sounds. I know I am dreaming but it is a good idea for the company to sell
Omnisphere 2 Ultimate $499
Omnisphere 2 EDM $299
Omnisphere 2 LE $199
For me, I will go for LE version because I just want the DLL only. As now O2 can import the user sample, I don't need those so called inspiring sounds recorded in the cave or scream of a BAT. I can live with using the built-in > 400 wav forms and drag my own samples to mess around with the Granular.
And for the existing users, do they want that new Huge library ? I don't think so. May be they just want to use the new engine to mess around the existing library ....
Finally, I do hope they can sell the library separately like Alchemy or Iris.
Cheers!

I'm not understanding the issue you have with the grace period. Is V1 now being sold at a drastically reduced price? I haven't seen those sales.GMusic wrote:I agree and disagree. I think it's fair that this upgrade be about 1/2 price of the product's MSRP. Also we are not forced to upgrade.

I'm one of those people who always wanted Omnisphere but never took the plunge. This upgrade looks great, and I'm definitely going to buy it this time around. So, sure, I could buy V1 right now for basically the same price as V2 and get a free upgrade. But do I really want to go to the trouble of installing a gazillion gigs of samples for V1, only to have to turn around and do it all over again with the new version? I don't see the incentive, unless I was so desperate to play with Omnisphere that I absolutely couldn't wait for the new version and had to have the old one immediately. Personally, I have enough other toys to play with until V2 ships, so again, what is the advantage to buying V1 now, and how is that unfair to existing customers who have been using V1 for years already?

Here's thing about grace periods - they always, always, always annoy some people. If you don't have a grace period at all, it annoys even more people.
And there will always be those unlucky sods who just miss the window. If the grace period had just been a week different, some of the people who fold their arms saying "you're not getting a penny of my cash then" would have been posting every wild emoticon on the board in joy. And different people would be folding their arms.
Some folks are gonna get an amazing deal with Omni 2. And I'm one of them - I'd pay full rrp, probably more, even though I already own it, but I get it for only $199. I know how much value and worth I've had out of Omni 1, and its almost certainly the best cash I've ever spent on a music product in my many long years on this Earth. I'm delighted for the lucky sods who get the update for free, but its worth is so abundantly obvious to me I'm equally delighted for myself. It's still bargain of the year.
