Will T-Racks CS (4.whatever), as it is currently, stand alongside this update, or the next time Custom Shop is updated, it will be a forced update (say, somebody wanted to keep the versions with the Dino, etc.)?

Surely they can't automatically appear on my computer....I must download something to get these improved GUI....

You would download T-RackS 5... Just like with AmpliTube 4 in Burillo's example. We haven't updated individual plugins in Custom Shop products in a long while. You install the main application and it updates the plugins and shell.
Ok, but T-RackS 5 won't be available for me to download without purchasing it will it?
Or it will?
rsp
At this time, information about a free CS version is TBD. There will certainly be limitations in this version though. We will share more information about this when information is available.

T-RackS 4.x will remain. Your previous projects will thus remain intact and you can migrate (or not) as you wish and at your discretion and pace.

I re-edited after you read it to:

So re-reading Burilo, that is a yes. I will get (in October) T-RackS 5 in my account to download free and have access to the same plugins I currently have bought license for....
think I am clear now.
thanks

So my part in bold therefore is not necessarily true but tbd?

You will get the T Racks 5 CS, and yes, you will be able to use your plugins. You will not have T Racks 5 outright, you
will be able to download T Racks 5 CS, the free version, which will be crippled (regarding new features) compared to one of the paid versions.

Thanks, and all the current TRack singles I currently have will be available also as v5 versions (with bigger GUI) in this CS free version that I can use in Cubase et al.

And this limitations and crippling that you and Peter mention are not in regard to the single vst versions I use in Cubase....

That is my understanding, yes, however I can't confirm this with absolute certainty. Peter hasn't disclosed which features will be crippled in the CS free version (and I believe he said he doesn't have this information as of yet).

Got ya..So to summarize for me who isn't bright like Burillo.
For someone like me who has zero interest in the rack/module thing, who only uses these as single vst plugins in Cubendo, if I compare for example, the neve 1073 ik plugin I currently have, vs someone say buying it in November (assuming they are still available to purchase as a single then).

His version vs. my current version
1. Although only recoded for GUI changes, will benefit from the new framework. Benefits include larger GUI and for those plugins that utilize oversampling, improved oversampling algorithms.

However I can get his version either possibly by:
a) With zero cost download TRackS-5 CS when it becomes available, although there may be limitations that affect single vst users like me, just not known or stated at this point.
b) doing the $99 preorder in which case I am guaranteed to have the same version the fictitious November purchaser will have.

Is this true and correct Peter?

You guys have the Album Assembly, which I was initially stoked on, but reality soon came crashing in.

In T-Racks 5 description, IK states:

T-RackS 5 boasts more versatility and firepower than any of its competitors and gives you everything you need to professionally treat and finalize your audio from raw mixes to a perfect finished product ready for uploading to the leading digital delivery and streaming services or for CD printing.

How is this statement true when you have no mp3 export or burning capabilities?

Yes, though point a is not confirmed so I cannot guarantee anything about a free version at this time (in other words, I do not know if there will be limitations that hinder what you describe as I do not yet have that information).

Fear not, zvenx. You are not the only one who is having difficulty trying to understand what's going on here. Frankly, I don't really care one way or the other if the old modules can be resized in my DAW (Cubase) after buying the 99 buck upgrade, but I really would like to know what's going on, just because I'm a bit technically obsessive. After reading this entire thread and the other Gearslutz thread linked to earlier, I am still confused.

I emphasized the important part that explains exactly why. Unless you distribute MP3 quality versions of your work.

Also from our T-RackS 5 page:
In T-RackS 5 you now can sequence and assemble your full-length production directly within the interface and create a cohesive album sequence, with suitable track metadata, like pauses, fades, track ID’s, ISRC codes, CD-Text, etc. Then you can export single high quality master audio files or the whole project in various formats such as WAV, AIF, standard DDP image for professional replication plants, or Wav Cue files.
You can export high-quality audio in the appropriate formats for digital and physical distribution. However, if the features you are looking for are not there, we understand if T-RackS may not be the mastering suite that fits your needs.

What points are still confusing you? I'm sure they can be cleared up.

On Gearslutz this statement was said to clear up 99% of the questions there and here, so maybe this will help?
Nothing is replaced. This is a new major version. Your v4 plugins, standalone, and plugin suite will remain. T-RackS 5 plugins, standalone, and plugin suite will be new. Your v4 plugins will also be available as T-RackS 5 plugins with the new GUI (as single plugins as well as in the "rack"/standalone/shell).
There was also a Land of the Lost Cha-Ka interpretation posted there:
Chaka now have v 4
Chaka buy 99 dollar upgrade
Chaka then have v 4 and new v5 standalone and Chaka have new v5 rack and new v5 single plugins

We also have eight videos including two walkthroughs which should give good insight into the actual product, features, and modules which don't seem to have been much of the focus thus far: http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/tr ... =tr5-video
