I hated the old way. It was so hard to interact with the arrange view in a consistent way. The new way is such a relief.pdxindy wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 8:28 pm Lots of people used to find the clip fiddly in Arrange because the lower half of the clip was the time select tool.

[EDIT/UPDATE] The color appears to NOT have changed in Polarity’s video. So maybe the following is just specific to ere2learn’s customization? If that’s the case, then please ignore the following.
—————————————————
I see that they've changed Bitwig's iconic orange to something less vibrant. Call me crazy, but I like the previous color better. It's iconic, it's Bitwig.
Since this is beta, here's a suggestion:
If the version 5's orange is too much, how about a 33% average between version 5's orange and version 6's? I think 33% average (R255,G153,B17) looks better.
Bitwig 5: R255,G135,B18
Bitwig 6: R255,G162,B16
33% Avg: R255,G153,B17

You'll need to send it to them. I don't think they read these forums
(Personally, I would rather spend the email attention they'll give me on bug reports and feature feedback)

My very last priority is the color of the brand's logo. If it even measures in my priority list at all.

Wait did you see the CEO's tie? It was 23.5% more blue than the last time I saw him. We should really push them to change this for us.

This update looks like exactly what I personally was hoping the developers would begin to move toward.
Bitwig, hear me out.
Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please look at Logic, StudioOne, and Cubase and then add a Chord Track exactly like exists in those (and ideally improve on it with extended harmonic features like those in Suggester (iOS) and RapidComposer (and even CaptainChord).
The Chord Track in those apps is literally the only reason I reach outside of Bitwig at this point, personally. It's the best songwriting tool there is when you are looking to computer tools instead of just sitting down with a ukulele and an iPhone voice memos.
Logic Pro has extended the "chord track" as far as anyone outside of something like Band in a Box has done, adding "Players" - Garageband also has something like these. Kind of like EZKeys or Native Instruments "Strum Guitar" or the styles on arranger keyboards like the Yamaha PSR and Genos series. Logic Pro has built this feature directly into a DAW with its players and chord track.
Please.
It's sad people won't even register what I'm saying despite the fact that I'm 1,000,000% correct

Not a huge fan of the gradient either, but what a treat the rest of it is.

mxbf I knew when they added scales to the piano roll this was going to come up.
I have to say that while the idea of chord tracks in bitwig is somewhat attractive on paper, I think something like that would probably be doomed to disappoint. Whatever they do would be very simplistic compared to dedicated apps for those purposes. Captain Plugins and Scalar 3 are both excellent for that and their devs are singularly focused on providing the best experience for exploring harmony while Bitwig developers just aren't going to be able to match that kind of focus.
I have to ask you what you would get from a built in harmony tool in Bitwig that you can't already get and more with dedicated harmony apps like Captain plugins and Scalar 3?

That was a hilarious comment !tumface wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:57 pmYeah, it's odd. There's also no way to hide it or turn it off. I have a pelog heptatonic song for Indonesian gamelan and Bitwig is proudly displaying C Major at the top of the project and there's no way to hide it or dim it or turn it offaMUSEd wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 8:55 pm Why is it limited to such a standard palette of scales? Would be better if you could just import Scala files or create your own![]()
Such a 'London bridge is falling down' scale so proudly there.
Some days ago Táćĥèś was showing his draw your music app with a nice list of scales. He was wondering if there's a scales, why there is always so limited list of them. He had nice categories there. Easy to find everything. Bitwig should copy that list.

It's as good a use as any other.koalaboy wrote: Wed Aug 27, 2025 5:12 pm For now, I'll just end up having a lot of macro knobs to be 'pretend' duplicate lanes![]()
Could be argued that the addition automation was already a pretend duplicate lane.
With the improved automation this should actually be better. You get an automation lane and you'll be able to route it to other parameters and even nested devices parameters.

I think this may be a Bitwig editor first and techno type scale implementation.
The more exotic tunings (and via scala?) are already available via Micropitch.
Should they or could they combine them both?

Isn't that there in the bottom right (since 5.3 the little speaker icon? You can choose different things)billinder33 wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 12:59 pm dedicated studio output busses to manage multiple studio monitoring scenarios

Not so surecoroknight wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 3:46 pm I bet this is why the 5.x series of updates were less impactful than people hoped. They’ve probably been working on this for awhile.
ARM support for the whingymac users
Sound Engine overhaul allowing multiple audio devices
UI graphics overhaul
CLAP plug in support
Were all probably very important in setting a solid foundation to now be able to build upon
Also in 5.x releases
MSEG
Track and project level modulators
New browser
Filters (+ and sweep)
Waveshapers
Voice stacking
Plug in undo
Improved compressor and EQ and distortion
Drum family
Stepwise sequencer
Pitch and frequency shifters
Loads of other stuff like the Dome filter
It's looking good for the future. And don't forget just because this feature is core UI and arranger focused doesn't mean the Grid and Device teams will be sitting by idly.

Now that alias clips exist, couldn't they get rid of resize-based clip looping? I mean, the user interaction could be kept the same, but instead of looping the single clip and struggling to visualise loop boundaries, they could just draw new alias clips instead.
