It's this exactly, this was one of their primary motives for creating the global controls from how Eric explains it in the sonic state interview. So they can now support a huge amount of hardware and easily add new ones as they are released. And now you aren't limited to just what's on a given hardware synth like before.noiseboyuk wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 6:03 amI wonder if the main controls page was developed as a result of brainstorming a way to make hardware controllers work. There was no useful way to integrate a regular controller with Omnisphere until now. This really is pretty clever how your controls will now ALWAYS affect the sound reliably. You will always know where the resonance and cutoff controls are on your controller, so you can reach for them as quickly as hardware, and keep the GUI open for other tweaks so you don't have to keep switching tabs (I think there's a preference to have the GUI switch automatically when you affect a control).daily patcher wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 4:04 am Yeah after hearing Eric clarify how the global controls work I'm more excited for that feature now, it seems very useful in its intelligent design. In my dream scenario they would have dynamic panels that more uniquely suit each patch like how their Sonic Extensions work. Maybe this is the first step towards that (it would be a ton of work but a man can dream!). But I also get they are trying to cater to as many controllers as possible and this was a way of streamlining access to the synth. Not really a selling feature for me but it makes business sense I suppose.
I have the Novation Launchkey 88mk3. I can imagine it being genuinely useful to know I can adjust reverb amount and length reliably in hardware, or amp/filter ADSR, or vibrato.
EDIT - the one caveat is that those hardware controls MAY not work on legacy or 3rd party patches, but we await confirmation on that.

LA-2A, 1176 and Fairchild (I think). It'll be interesting how good they are but judging by their effects so far I think they will be great as well.

It's true. I am also very interesting how good they are. Just one thing - the interface of them are small compare to normal fxs...adl wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 6:20 amThere are 3 new additions:Alexander_D wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 6:12 amThanks. FWIW, these are the Spectrasonics FX creative partners according to the Omni 3 manual:bermudagold wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 2:57 am don't they outsource most of the fx like NI so they are available for the most part elsewhere...a bunch are from nomad factory so it's like getting magma for free...since magma is listed at 120 then yeah...but most people got it in one of the typical 29 sales...people rave about innerspace, but that is just exotic impulse convolution from diego stocco...anyone could have always just bought his IR packs and run them in the convolution processor they already have...its definitely a value multiplier though when evaluating purchasing decisions as tassman, mx4, karmafx, rapid, hyperion and now serum have done...surprising really when you think about the money developers are leaving on the table

Just checked JRRShop for the 169 usd upgrade possibility.
It turns out, that is 169 +shipping, so to sum up things, there's no cheaper option for upgrade, 199 is the price.
Am I right? (Of course its not available for buying it at spectrasonics yet)

If you add to cart, there is an exemption here - shipping is free. They're already shipping in time for launch day btw.dune_rave wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 7:47 am Just checked JRRShop for the 169 usd upgrade possibility.

BTW, In case anyone else missed it, I believe UncleE said the upgrade version is just a code in a box. The full version has the install media.

imo, this upgrade is so much better than the upgrade from v1 to v2. It's also 50 quid cheaper, and that's before taking into account the 10 years worth of inflationjobinho wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 3:36 amPerhaps if you don’t already have lots of good fx, but $199 for an upgrade certainly isn’t a bargain… it’s like upgrading a DAW level pricing. Is this going to install right over ver 2?
Or will it be a whole new dll and "steams" folder?
Do we know yet?

Yeah plus 2.5 was a free update. I was just pointing out it wasn’t a bargain at $199 — which is what was being asserted — perhaps if it had some additional sound engines plus a new intuitive modulation system, but those are largely undeveloped.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 8:44 amimo, this upgrade is so much better than the upgrade from v1 to v2. I’ll likely upgrade at some point, it’s just not a critical part of my workflow and 2.8 with Keyscape is still great.

Yeah, for you it‘s each 4 years a new dongle-Macbook to stay on the latest version. That makes Omnisphere and other DAWs really look like a bargain.cryophonik wrote: Sat Oct 18, 2025 4:55 amSorry, dumb Logic user here. What do these words even mean?
