Fine with me if he does... though the window may have already closed. I suspect he does not have the interest and he may not have the synth chops given how much synth tech has advanced.chk071 wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 8:39 pm Lennard needs to create a new young hottie. Bring on Sylenth2.![]()
What is it about Sylenth1 ?

I still prefer its sound for the time being.pdxindy wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 8:45 pmOf course he didn't get a return. The industry has advanced a whole lot while Sylenth is the same limited (both in features and sound quality) synth it has always been. A bunch of other synths have far surpassed it in both sound quality, functionality and in creative sound design tools and user interface. It is already irrelevant and on its way to being a footnote.fluffy_little_something wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 6:26 pmIf I remember correctly he said in his forum that he rewrote the entire code for v3.x. But didn't get anything in return for all that work.
Downloaded Synthmaster One and I don't think it's any better, despite being a new product. The sound is a bit hard and all over the place, must be hard to make it fit in the mix. Poor chorus.
The user interface isn't that good, either (weak fonts, no mouse wheel for selecting the next or previous preset in the browser, hardly visible and too short envelope slider guides, poorly visible knob pointers, etc.).

BTW, about it "being irrelevant" or becoming a footnote: Look at the Virus. Even after 20 years still relevant, and not a footnote. Reducing it to the tech is too one dimensional.

Hardware has a different calculation... It's not like there are lots of options for hardware replacements for the Virus. It is still pretty unique.chk071 wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:24 pm BTW, about it "being irrelevant" or becoming a footnote: Look at the Virus. Even after 20 years still relevant, and not a footnote. And that is the problem with Sylenth1. What is unique about it? I can't think of anything.pdxindy wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:29 pmHardware has a different calculation... When it first came out, the supersaw was smoother and shimmery-er than most other options. Now there are a plenty of great supersaw options. It no longer stands out there.chk071 wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:33 pm It's wide and pleasant sounding supersaw. If that's your thing.![]()

First up, you cannot seriously be trying to compare S1 to a Virus!?! Secondly, I think the hype around Virus has well and truly died down to almost nothing and that's mostly down to the fact that soft synths have well and truly caught up. It will be remembered for pioneering a new era of digital mastery but it ain't the big kahuna it once was.chk071 wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:24 pm BTW, about it "being irrelevant" or becoming a footnote: Look at the Virus. That interesting because before S1 there was a SynthEdit made synth with supersaw that everyone went bananas over and for the life of me I can't even remember it's name now. Certainly S1's supersaw can't hold a candle to DUNE's standard oscillator or most others.chk071 wrote: Mon Nov 26, 2018 9:33 pm It's wide and pleasant sounding supersaw. If that's your thing.

Was it Genesis? If so, I'm not sure if that one is made with synthedit.BONES wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 12:34 am That interesting because before S1 there was a SynthEdit made synth with supersaw that everyone went bananas over and for the life of me I can't even remember it's name now. Like a few pages ago, another patch match, Ingo Weidner's Jupiter Synth Brass 5 for Diva vs the same patch (as close as I could get) on Sylenth1...
https://app.box.com/s/nnpsy78dn5rfdj023b0l83qpd6p0d1dg
I think it sounds almost identical. So why does Diva sound oh so great and Sylenth1 as weak and outdated as people here keep saying?

I can't listen to your file but comparing one patch from Diva, which I am sure you selected for a reason, and concluding that S1 must be as good as Diva is just plain dumb. If you want to understand why Diva is so amazingly good (and to be clear, I don't own it), there is a patch in the demo that sounds like a solo violin that I wouldn't have believed possible from an instrument like that. It is sublime and, as far as I'm concerned, is all you need to hear to know how special Diva is (shame about the CPU usage). OTOH, I never came across a patch in S1 that I thought was particularly special or unique.

Is the file broken?
I picked a brass pad that sounded typical of classic analog brass pads to me.
What is the exact name of that violin patch? I will try to emulate it tomorrow if I have time

No, I just don't have a Dropbox account. Actually, I probably do but it would be more than a decade since I used it and I have no idea what my log-in would be. I can't remember what the Diva patch was called, I haven't had the demo installed anywhere for a year or more.

Huh? You don't need an account just in order to view or listen to files there. The link leads to a public audio player...BONES wrote: Tue Nov 27, 2018 4:53 am No, I just don't have a Dropbox account. How convenient for you that you don't remember the patch's name...
Makes me wonder, how long has it been since you last used Sylenth1? You seem to have such a strong dislike for it that one might think you are forced to use it against your will every day
I actually agree with your previous statement that the factory presets in S1 are pretty bad, at least if one is not into certain genres. If there were no factory presets at all, it wouldn't make any difference to me. They are just a waste of bytes on my computer. But nobody prevents you from making your own patches that you would indeed find "particularly special or unique." Diva presets are mostly crap as well in my view. There are very few synths with useful, musical factory presets. The OP X Pro comes to mind.
