I put 2 songs in my music website: "Into The Future" is the song on top (it has Repro-5, Hive 2, and plenty of Presswerk compression), and "Because, Because of You2" (no u-he on this song) is the next song down. Please tell me how you like the music, and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor! Leave me a link if your thread is not recent. Here is my link:

Love the tight rythm section and wild dives and swells set against the power chords. The tone of the lead guitar seems fresh, maybe some nice layering going on? The synth solo is great fun! A great ad for fence-sitters contemplating a purchase. Well balanced EQ throughout, and everything is well played.
Also enjoyed the second song, has a strong seventies Fillmore West feel. I suspect Quicksilver and The Airplane would approve. Nice integration of ambience and creative harmonics as fills between guitar riffs and rythms!
The bass on the kick helps keep the tone well rounded.
Also 'In Your Own Way' is cool yet again
Cheers

A new herky-jerky release* U-he synths with SampleTank piano.
Been a tough month, but only if first-world problems count in a meaningful way. Long story short, amid drive failures, new drives, new installations yada yada, I found this song in a back-up parts-bin. It sounded familiar, and I searched high and low to make sure I hadn't fiddled with it yet. So I gleaned the good parts and sent it out to Distrokid. Now it's out there, but the familiarity was still grinding on me, so I searched some drives based on file size, playing everything in the size ballpark that I couldn't pin down sonically from colating title and tune from memory. And sure enough, I found it! Lurking under a different title and cover photo, a slightly different length, due to more edits, and with a slightly different ambience, so inadvertantly I kinda licensed myself to cover my own song...

glokraw,
Thank you for the reviews, I appreciate it! Now listening to "Searching For Welcome": this has a certain energy to it that is good. This would be good background music for a TV show or movie.

Looks like a fun session. and no chart-reading! U-he synths do a fine job of both sounding like, and playing with, real instruments. Your FOH guy did a nice job balancing the mix, or these high-tech days, I suppose the band could set that up ahead of time, and just press a record button.

I added a new song to my music website called “As Far As You Can See” (the song on top). It has Repro-5 and Presswerk compression. Please tell me how you like the music, and how it can be improved, and I will return the favor. Here is my link:

I like the three distinct tones at the start, grunge guitar, a bright guitar back-strum, and different distortion on the bass, makes a full range backgound for the solos and vocals.
The lead guitar and synth tones don't fight or compete with the guitar parts, and hold attention. The guitar solo alternating tones works well, and the synth part has a Rick Wakeman energy to it. The rock drums blend in seemlessly, well matched to the feel and seem almost invisible. The riser and dive also work well. Maybe in an upcoming song, you could have guitar solo in one ear, and synth harmonized in the other?

This somber song is called 'Don't Let It Break You'. It was made with Hive 2. It is dedicated to those who are the surviving loved ones of those tragically lost to violent crimes, acts of war, suicide, dread medical conditions, or inexplicable accidents. It runs 29 minutes, and hopefully, for some, it can be a musical backdrop for grieving or remembrance, with an admonition in the title to persevere in an extremely difficult season.

glokraw,
Thank you for reviewing "As Far As You Can See"! I appreciate it! I think I did something like you said once or twice (with less panning) before. I believe I used Melodyne on a different song or two where I converted the lead guitar audio notes into MIDI notes, which later triggered synth stuff. I am now listening to "Don't Let It Break You": I personally see it as more reflective than somber, but in a good relaxing way. Nice synths and song!

I like this thread and love u-he's software, I have been lurking and listening a while
glokraw and aaron aardvark, y'all seem like you're riffing off of each other and are both very talented. Got me wanting to join in, so I've been working away...
This EP is practically all u-he synths (besides drums which are usually ni's battery, and I think one instance of alchemy). Repro, Diva, Hive, Zebralette, and Filterscape were all used heavily.
