Due to recent discoveries about the ultimate nature of matter, space, and time, the contest deadline will be extended to 36 hours from now. (By 'discovery about ...' I mean without a time machine I'll a little busy until then)

So at 1,079 million kilometres per hour. 36 x that.xh3rv wrote:Due to recent discoveries about the ultimate nature of matter, space, and time, the contest deadline will be extended to 36 hours from now.
I could have circled around the solar system by then.
wait...but when I return, I'll still have to wait 36 hours?

Or, just see yourself in process of waiting the 36 hours.MCnoone wrote:So at 1,079 million kilometres per hour. 36 x that.xh3rv wrote:Due to recent discoveries about the ultimate nature of matter, space, and time, the contest deadline will be extended to 36 hours from now.

Just a quick note that patches will be up in a couple hours.

OK, finally have these put together. Worth the wait, I hope - there are some _great_ patches in here. I'm not going to post a voting thread right away, I'll wait for Bmrzycki to have a link to the set at Zebra HQ, but here they are.

[e] Another quick note, I noticed one patch uses the latest beta version of Zebra with 1sec delay modes.

I got this message when I pressed the dl button on that page.xh3rv wrote:I'll wait for Bmrzycki to have a link to the set at Zebra HQ, but here they are.

"This user is not allowed to use direct links.
Please email support@box.net for support".
Guess I'll have to wait then.
edit: I managed to dl them using another proxy and it worked.
I'm blocked from that site, but got around it. Thanks.

I've gotten some messages about the set from patch authors so I guess I'll hold off on the voting thread just a little bit just to make sure those concerns all get through prior to that thread.
Particularly, the patch 'Outside Jazz+' should have the 1st XY set at the top-right corner on loading. I think volume might be a little loud too (?) ( might have overcompensated from last time ... )

Also, we'll most likely have the Zebra 2.5 release version up in a few hours. I guess this should be used for voting
(I'm a little late... I know...

The same author contacted me last night and I was able to adjust the presets in the version on the U-He PatchLib to his liking.xh3rv wrote:I've gotten some messages about the set from patch authors so I guess I'll hold off on the voting thread just a little bit just to make sure those concerns all get through prior to that thread.

Unless you have someone else unhappy with their patches the one found int he link posted above by me should be fine.

I kind of think that the balancing of relative patch volumes could do with some tweaking - I can hear a fair difference between the patch that, to me, sounds the loudest and that which sounds quietest.
And I think that it matters that it's done to everyone's satisfaction (in so far as that is possible). Having some patches that are noticeably louder or quieter than others not only makes auditioning more difficult, but it might also give an advantage to the louder patches.
BTW, I wasn't one of the ones who originally PM'd xh3rv, but, after reading his last post and then listening to the balanced set of patches, I sent him a PM saying more-or-less what I've just written here.

Normalizing is a tricky business, as I did it for the first 4 contests. I think it's safest if people remember to listen to the Original/ folder as that contains the person's untouched intent.

Well, it's certainly more art than science, but it's really not so difficult to adjust the levels so that they are all of similar perceived volumes (btw, I'm pretty sure that I balanced the first lot of ZPC patchesbmrzycki wrote:Normalizing is a tricky business, as I did it for the first 4 contests.

Just an added opinion, but I believe that all the contests levels were balanced very well, up until the last zpc5, and this one.
There is no doubt that the last zpc5 had the levels too low, and this zpc6 has the levels all different.
..but really I can just set the levels using the output to where I like it anyway, so doesn't matter too much to me.
The zpc5 originals sounded good though. This time...their all different.

OK, well I'll have to admit I'm quite terrible at the task of balancing the volume of the patches in a way that makes them work well here . . . anyone want to set these up in the next little bit of time, or is it not even that big a deal? Once the voting thread goes up I don't think there's any chance of going back.
