But I've def been inspired again to dive into ACE, thanks everyone! Rolandish, good enough for me. The Loomer Aspect update is still a little way off, so ACE can get a large portion of my love in the meantime!

Sendy, where's your blog???!! :D Autotune... shite, what key is it in? *heads off to KVR to ask for music theory books on hip hop*

When did these non-musos start making music? Who let them in?
'So, what instrument do you play?'
'I'm a DJ dude.'
'Ok, but what do you play?'
'Like, what genre?'
'No, what instrument do you play and compose on?'
'Woah, wait dude, I PRODUCE.'
'Ok, but what do you play?'
'You mean what genre?'
'No'
'Oh, ok, yeah, well vinyl mostly, unless it's a shite club then I just rip the audio from YouTube, no one can hear the difference anyway when I turn all the knobs up'
Yeah, synth manuals are great. I read lots of them, and can enjoy them in lots of different ways. Often I find it refreshing to hear that "beginner's take" on synthesis because it keeps my view fresh and unjaded. It's easy to become bogged down in the numbers and technical game. Plus, it's cool to spot unusual synth features, like variable sawtooth waves and odd types of oscillator sync.

Sadly, from what I could gather most of the S100's manual comes from the "accoustic synthetic" angle. Kinda amusing/quaint/cute/funny. :)

The blog is coming! I just need to get around to deciding on how to start it, what site to use, etc... bloody details >:(

Coolio Sends, looking forward to your blog... I'm sure it'll be insightful and amusing! :tu: Good luck with those pesky details... that's where 'the devil' is.
Can make or break ya.

The old 70's vibe of carefully dipping your toe into uncharted synth waters, and trying to recreate known instrument sounds is pretty quaint considering how far it's all come since then! Wubstep anyone? :D

Visiting Vintage Synth as we speak to grab the manual and download the vid.

So the VS manual download link isn't working for me... anyone got a spare Sys 100 pdf to send my way? Thanks :tu:

Me vs. Howard? No f-ing way! I'd get smoked! Howard is *the man*!

I just meant that for *my* purposes I can accomplish what *I* would want to do with Zebra with "not Zebra" (i.e. Reaktor, FM8, and Alchemy). Sure, it takes me multiple instruments to cover Zebra ground, but I know them already, and I'm lazy. I'm also trying this "new thing" for me--working on being a "musician" rather than getting sucked down the technology rabbit holes that so readily entice me. I'll say it hasn't worked out too well so far ;)

It would take a very brave or foolish man to take on THE HOWARD! :D

BTW, those rabbit holes are just flippin' everywhere! I've pretty much given up on being any sort of muso :(
