No, that is not correct. Often the reason is that you want a capital injection (to expand). But without having looked at their books, being a highly competent business expert and knowing the market really well, basically every word about it is silly nonsense akin to highly drunken pub talk. People tend to extremely overrate the worth of their own opinion and the scope of their own competence and thus love to argue stuff they don't have the slightest clue about.AdvancedFollower wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2019 9:54 am Well, the usual reason to take on outside investment is because you need a capital injection![]()
If Propellerheadz ain't work'n on a new GUI, well then...

I really hope every word from you is meant in full jest. (I know you're joking, but am not quite sure to what extent and from what angle).chk071 wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2019 10:05 amFor serious musicians, they're both toys.
I mean, for those who play a instrument and stuff. Electronic music producers who don't play a instruments aren't musicians. They might not even be humans, but, i'm not sure about that.

Also a v10 latecomer and I'm with you on it looking and feeling great - I love the rack, routing options and the overall friendly vibe. It's an inspirational place to be. That said, I do get frustrated with basic stuff like zooming ('cmd-opt-8' makes for clunky navigation), or resizing/selecting custom regions in the piano roll when editing midi, for instance. Dragging bars to navigate the screen feels clunky in the trackpad era. We should be zipping around the place, unfettered. My mind works faster than my fingers as it is.jens wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2019 9:15 am New Reason user here (since V10) and I absolutely love its interface on my 15inch laptop. It looks great and it feels great - for me easily the prettiest and most easy to navigate DAW I have.
There are certainly things which I think think they direly need to improve but the UI isn't one of them in my opinion.
One feature I'd love them to add is mouse wheel support - turn the knobs on rack devices with a little wheel under your finger. It might sound silly, but little things like this can bridge the tactile gap.
I'm not looking for cosmetic changes or 'structural' UI changes but workflow helpers, so it stops blocking my chi.

And sometimes it's not opinions, just speculation. Similar to dreaming, fantasizing, prognostics, analysis based on limited data, etc. Not a firmly held belief. "I believe they needed the money to survive." Versus "IMHO it's possible that they needed the money to survive, because..."

People don't ask for money unless they need it, that's pretty much the norm.
And they certainly wouldn't give up control for free...

I have no issue with the look or feel, or realistic bitmaps, it's just too tiny. It's quite a nice DAW.

Longtime Reason user here. I absolutely love the GUI/UX (and resulting workflow) of Reason, but absolutely want (need) proper 4K/high dpi display support. It's long overdue and should have happened versions ago - it's literally the only DAW that doesn't have such support.
Whether or not they take a 2D approach or stick with 3D-ish skeuomorphism (or a hybrid of the two) doesn't matter to me - just as long as it looks good.
And yeah, opinions of ex-Reasoners are always a treat to read.
While I don't question their reasons for shifting to another DAW (we all have our own needs and wants to nurture our creative outlets), their "facts" regarding Propellerhead's business practices are always adorable. I wouldn't put too much thought behind them.

I've tried them all. I love the concepts of live and bitwig, but live feels clunky and bitwig's main-man is a (insert not nice word here) I've mentioned reaper but it's a cluster-fark for the most part. I like Cubase but I have the most miserable time trying to get controllers to play nice with it, it's expensive and I always end up reselling it for pennies on the dollar
Pro tools isn't for me, some of the "smaller" hosts are ok but they always seem to be missing something I need. Tracktion is "poof-crash" city, FL doesn't gel with me (but it's a good daw) and then there are dead men that we should just let sleep
That pretty much leaves Studio One and Reason. Reason is the least complicated and I can at least work around stuff that isn't quite there yet. Studio One is a far more robust host, but I found I didn't make music with it, it was like I was in class all the time trying to learn it.
So now you have it, the information everyone wanted, why I use Reason. Insert Spock ears here please

2) common sense is not even always sensible - far from it
Having said that, it all depends on your definition of "need", I guess. If I want to buy a house, I need a lot of money to do so. Chances are I don't have enough, which means I need to take some kind of a loan. That doesn't mean I'm homeless though.
The way you meant it originally was to claim that they "needed" it because their business had been deteriorating significantly, which you have no clue about i.e. you were completely talking out of your ass. They might have "needed" it because they had some plans for growth they could not realize otherwise.
Again: you have no clue.

Reason's GUI, isn't great at 1080P, and it's practically unusable at 1440P on a 23.6" screen.

Whatever that means... (please don't explain - dealing with video resolutions is part of my dayjob)
Fwiw I use Reason on a 15'' 1920×1080 screen and it looks great.
