I bet he's referring to a beat slicer.
I'm pretty sure he means an easy way to identify the loudest point in the file so that you can raise the overall amplitude and know how loud you can go before clipping happens, without playing the song back.

Thanks for answering my question! :D

I don't think it's what he wants... but if it is, it's there already!! :? Click the master volume control, "find normalized level based on max level of whole edit" (I suppose you could use RMS, too). It'll set the volume -.4 dB (or whatever) if there had been any clipping.

I think he's more referring to pinpointing the specific areas where clipping happens, so that changes can be made just to that small area rather than to the whole edit.

Personally, I've found that it's really easy to do this visually... I don't know that I'd need an auto-marker to tell me that "this area where the waveform is touching the top and/or bottom of the audio part" is clipped audio.

Yes! Sorry - posted in a hurry - couldn't think of the correct term.

And I'd say the time-stretch/pitch shift IS 'bread and butter', purely because it's already there! It's just not very good (yet)!

If Tracktion had these additions or improvements I wouldn't need anything else. As it is, I still use ACID Pro 4 for shifting/stretching, and an ancient shareware audio editor for beat-slicing. Not a huge problem, just untidy. :)

I'll bite, where can you get Wavelab 3.0 for $99?

Yeah, good call. I missed that.

Wavelab for $99 bucks is a great deal. I'd be having some of that myself I think.

Hmm...I'm seeing something called "WaveLab Essential Mastering Software" at Musicians Friend for $99. That must be it?

I don't see any particular version number, nor do I see anything about it at Steinberg's site.

Here is a comparison of Wavelab 5.0 full and Wavelab Essential:

It looks like Wavelab Essential can't record a live input? If so this is a crippling issue.

Speak of the devil! I just checked my email and got a message from Hear saying the item will ship very soon.

Sweet. I can wait.

i love the way T works with audio... it's my favourite audio editor i've ever used!!!!         and most of my songs are built from arrangements of audio clips     i love it. tho of course i understand it's not an audio editor, i love the way it works. best in shoW!

although i would LOVE a button to automatically reverse a sample for me. it's a pain to copy it, reverse that copy (in a different screen no less) and then paste that in... if it's such a rehearsable procedure then i'm sure it's possible to automate it into a single button/menu press [to automatically create a 'reverse' copy of that clip as a separate file in the project directory and replace the clip or paste it as a new one]

perhaps jules has thought of that already for T2? :D
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
