Sorry, it`s long, just trying to give my best: (ignore if bored)
i use Air 4 ( it started with air2, which was then shortly after updated to Air3)
Usecase: single instrument patches in GP (live play host). Enhance the highs / respectivly balance mids/high mids vs. highs with said enhancement.
This one is Gold worth ! But your signal, Air4, and settings must be a match.
It sounds to my ears digital.
BUT: and that`s the very funny part: it "can" trigger my ears in a "as good" way as the real tube sound can do. AS GOOD -to my rears- ladies and gentlemen. But the sound is perceptable "as digital". Which in fact has changed something for me vs. my dogmas. It`s not about analog vs. digital. It IS about what can trigger our ears in specific -Good- ways. This one here can. It`s a gem. Period ( but you might have to invest some time)
Insider trick: try it on clean Piano ( Pianoteq in my case). Especially when you run your piano further thru some live play jam FXing stuff. Even if it`s just playing with some delays. It can be incredibly good.
Stonefire, literally the multiband version of Air, iirc.
Sometimes i just replace air with it. Often enough i use it slightly different. ( you have with it more options to work "against" your once good sound)
For starters: Add Stonefire "behind" your already Fav Saturation/drive devices. Make it the 2nd stage !
I`d say, try all your once fav saturators fresh again. Now, with StoneF behind them.
Pro tip: Try it on 303 !!
To get the most out of em, one has to invest a certain amount of time. So the message: it is worth that time.
Both of em can be Gold ! totally

Some of my favourites:
ToTape9 - Excellent loudenator, peak shaver, saturator. The default headbump is set to 50% which is too much, but dial that down and you're good to go. Make sure to turn the flutter to 0 if using on the master. Default adds a subtle stereo effect that alters the tonal character in mono.
Channel9 - Multiple desk models, really nice saturation.
Chamber - Oldschool reverb similar to Sonsig but more textured and characterful. Dual mono, so if you put mono in you get mono out.
Galactic3 - Lovely huge spacey reverb.
TakeCare - A quirky but cool lush delay/ambience thing. Turn the depth right down close to 0 (doesn't take much before it gets crazy), turn the speed down and the regen up.
Mackity: Mackie mixer crunch in the box, say no more.

If you're on an Arch Linux distro (I use Manjaro), you can always keep Airwindows Consolidated updated via AUR.

That's fair, but I would specifically advise you to keep a backup in that case if you're auto-updating. It's not often but I have seen Paul run into glitches updating Consolidated, and while he's quick to address any such issues, that's the risk of running an auto-updater. Especially in this day and age running an auto-updater is the absolute last thing I would doTechHaus wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2026 5:59 pm If you're on an Arch Linux distro (I use Manjaro), you can always keep Airwindows Consolidated updated via AUR.

The notification to update my consolidated is like a weekly alarm clock. Then I check your thread on here.jinxtigr wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2026 3:09 pmThat's fair, but I would specifically advise you to keep a backup in that case if you're auto-updating. I personally use the individual plugins a lot more. Just used to them from back in the Kagi days
