Like most here, I have tons of plugins. Even so, I've been thinking about installing and testing Airwindows Consolidated.

I'm not looking for anything specifically, but since there are so many plugins inside it, I'm interested in people's opinions on what are the most useful, what you use them for, and anything in it that's very unique or a 'must-try'?

Or if anyone has installed it but found nothing useful or it just collects dust in your plugin folder.

What say you KVR?

Imho 'mastering' and 'air4' are both excellent brightness control tools on bus level. Then there's 'discontinuity' for track level, which can also help to tame brightness or to fatten up things with higher values. I've also used the slew rate limiters in the past, but they were replaced by Sloth (and recently Limen) mostly.

There are several problems with Consolidated.
1. Some of the Airwindows plugins sound so cool, good, out of this world, unique, etc. that it is so sad that they don't have awesome GUIs and are sold and marketed in a way as e.g. a certain Alliance does it.
2nd problem is that Chris' plugins are often weird.
The strength is the weakness as you often have to learn the plugins as they often have huge parameter ranges.
I could go on like that but spare you similar thoughts here.
Get the drift?

Some of my recommendations, categories that I started to explore and found really cool things in there:
- Tape - ToTape7 was the first that shocked me sonically. Since then it got better.
- Distortion and Saturation - Several unusual spice up to total creative FSU happily destroy stuff in there.
- Filters - Some EQs are just brilliant.
- Subtlety, Brightness, LoFi: Treasure chests! If you're after YOUR signature sounds you could easily find them here.

Sure this is only scratching the surface.

Agreed on all points. Some of them are incredible but I don't remember which ones they are, and I never end up using them. Super nice and generous guy, too.

IMO the most useful part of Consolidated is not having to have multiple versions of plugins installed to make sure you can open old projects; they're all there in one.

My favourite plugin by him is Mackity. Just a no-nonsense beefer-upper, and usually gives me the crunch I want without any fuss or unwanted side effects.

There are so many useful tools in Consolidated. There are some dud, to be sure. And, what to you may be a dud, may be gold for someone else. The nice things are that 1. you can set your personal best algorithms up as favorites and easily access them in the future, and 2. not have to install hundreds of plugins to run your favorites. It's like a Swiss Army Knife of hundreds of tools. You only need to find one or two favorites to make it all worth while. But of course, you'll find a lot more than a couple that you like. It's an honest to goodness secret weapon for your tracks.

Oh dear. Really? Edwin Starr...............

Anyway, I'm a fan of AirWindows Consolidated. Lots and lots to explore obviously. I use PurestFade everywhere in my live template, it has become vital.
