Thanks for your input, Arksun! (I'll be listening to supersaws more carefully in the future).

Hey Unison stuff! My favourite topic
Arksun mentioned a few pages pack, that the problem with the zebra unison is the phase of the oscillators. Now im not a scientist but according to me that shouldnt matter. (As long as they are free running)
If you have many oscillators with different frequencies on each oscillator i.e. a unison, and you you have all of them start with the same phase, then you will get the classic flanger type effect.
That happenes because each osc will have a different length of a single sycle (because we have all learned in school that low frequencies have long waves and high frequencies have short waves), but since its in unison the differences in the length are very small. So when you hit play, the osc all start at the same position but since they have the different length they will start moving away from each other.
For me a good unison should:
Have totally free running oscillators, so that the phasing effect doesnt occur.
Have nice clarity, so it doesnt sound muddy.
No fake methods. Its nice to have some CPU friendly tricks and stuff, but faking unison is the worst thing there is. I would rather have a CPU hog of a unison rather than a cheap one. If one finds the balance between CPU usage and quality then thats what I like

1 is very static sounding. It sounds like even spaced saws layered. You get a slow pulse every secondUrs wrote:So, what's your opinion on these 3 (different!) supersaws?

?
2 is pretty disgusting....
3 is nicer. Thicker sounding. It's not brilliant though... In fact, it sounds like all the layers have fast modulation on the phase or start point, giving it a slightly 'under water' modulation effect.
The best of the bunch is definitely 3 though - it has the most life (thicker and more movement). I would like to stress that it does sound a little bit wobbly though - similar to when you turn up the detune on Sylenth1 too high.

Just curious as to whether this has become a reality?Urs wrote:... It's of course not yet in the 3rd party skins. Hmmm... maybe I'm gonna write the Z2 skin creation guide today...

Sorry, not yetauricle wrote:Hi Urs,
Will there be better preset management in the upcoming release? Just being able to close folders to hide presets make things a lot easier to handle.
I've been working on this, but wasn't satisfied with the result. I have to care for this later along with the ongoing improvements. The new version has to come out really soon because of some over due bugfixes and because some other things require Zebra to officially be on the latest version, such as mkastrup's new patch library (can't be released as long as Zebra doesn't go V2.3).
Improved preset amangement is still scheduled for Zebra 2.5, like the fx plugin and all.
Cheers,

Bug report, I guess.
Load Zebra 2.3RC, switch to Unempty Dark Horse Skin, switch to Synthesis tab, there you go, 2 mysterious SB modules that don't belong to the initialize patch show up.
PS: I install 2.3RC over the 2.2 installation. Is that the correct way? Do I need to do clean install?

Peace, my friends. I'm not seeking arguments here.

Is it worth going trough the hassle of installing to see if it'll work in Renoise yet? Or are you sure it's not going to work untill TakTik straightens Renoise out?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
