Like I said, I tried to make it bad and still be listenable. It wasn't easy to do.Morgaxx wrote: Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:26 pm This one has character. Its the best so for as far as I am concerned. To me only the lyrics seemed purposely bad, which were actually good in that sense.

SOMEONE LIKE ME
Nice Doris Day vibe in the clothes of an electro beggar. I liked it though, because your tracks usually do not lack some twinkering on the funny side..

Thanks. I like that one too. Wish I could have gotten somebody like her to sing it.htcnext2 wrote: Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:56 pm SOMEONE LIKE ME

15th track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"
As we're getting very close to the end of the musical, in this song Avanna drugs her twin sister Adriana in order to get back the contract that Jerry was forced to sign. Sadly, if ever a song needed a real girl singer, this one did.
Lyrics:
It Had To Be Done
It had to be done
For the greater good
It had to be done
I didn't know if I could
I didn't know if I had it inside me
I look at you and it's myself I see
But it had to be done
Oh it had to be done -
It had to be done
So to make things right
It had to be done
And it took all my might
I couldn't let you hurt him
I couldn't let you make the lights go dim
So it had to be done
Oh it had to be done
In the morning you'll see it was the right thing
In the evening with me you'll go a dining
Maybe in time you will forgive me
Hoping inside that someday you will see
It had to be done
And now I must take my leave
It had to be done
I hope that you will believe
This was all for the best
Now you have a good rest
Cause it had to be done
Oh it had to be done

16th track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"
This is the big duet and the highlight of the musical. In this one, Jerry and Daisy realize that they belong together and profess their love for each other. If there was ever a song I wished I could get two really great singers to sing, it's this one.
It Was You All Along
There you were right in front of my eyes
And I couldn't see you
What a fool that I was to believe
That some other girl would do
I guess I always knew
It was you all along
There I was right in front of your eyes
But you couldn't see - me
Still I dreamed that the day would still come
When our love would come to be
I guess I always knew
It was you all along
Fate opened the door
Alone no more you and I
Now our lives to spend
Until the end until we die
Instrumental Break
Repeat B Section
Here am I staring into your eyes
Please don't ever let me go
For a world without you in my life
Isn't one I want to know
I guess I always knew
It was you all along
I guess I always knew
It was you all along

I know you're not really into show tunes but this is without a doubt some of the best work I've ever done. A professional Broadway company would really do a great job on it.

17th and final track from my upcoming CD "Jerry And Company"
The big finish. Happy ending. Jerry gets a fair contract and they put the show on and everybody's happy.
9 Vocaloids are singing on this one along with myself singing the parts of Jerry and Chuckie. Mixing wise, this was a real challenge. I think I did a passable job.
Tomorrow, I begin posting tracks from my CD "Time Travelers II"
Lyrics:
Finale From Jerry And Company
Let us entertain you
Let us entertain you
Let us entertain you
We hope you enjoyed our show
We didn't think we'd get through it
I bet you didn't know
It took us ten years to do it
We're not the most polished act
But we try hard and that's a fact
We're sure not known for having tact
But you love us anyway
For a while it looked like the bad guys were gonna win
But they brought their A game and we took it on the chin
And now we're all fine and peachy
And we did it without getting preachy
So now we're here to say goodbye
We hope you'll try real hard not to cry
We might return when pigs learn to fly
And now we've entertained you
Some how we've fully trained you
So we'll take our bow before we've drained you

Listening back to the last few songs, "You Can't Con A Con" is my favorite. It is well crafted, both musically and lyrically. (The other ones have some odd lyrics which seem to be there to complete a rhyme.) In fact, I could imagine this fitting into any number of musicals as a showcase for a cheat or villain. Nice work.

1st track from my upcoming CD "Time Travelers II"
Now that the musical is over (sigh of relief from the forum) this CD is a collection of songs in chronological order relating to events in history. I did an album like this in the 80s, thus the "II" after the title. Thought it was time to do another one.
Lyrics:
The Creation Of Man
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth
Yeah, yeah, yeah, get on with it already
Don't interrupt me
Just get to the part where God created man
Oh you know what
Never mind
In the beginning God made all that stuff
Then he created man and boy we had it rough
Then Eve she screwed it all up and God he had enough
And he threw us all out of the garden
In the beginning there wasn't much around
Walking through the garden the apple Eve had found
The snake sneaked up on her and made an awful sound
And then God threw us out of the garden
God he had this perfect plan
But to make it all a mess we do everything we can
So all I can do is work on my tan
Since God threw us out of the garden
Instrumental Break
In the beginning it seemed the thing to do
But things didn't turn out like God intended to
We chucked it all to hell, oh man you know it's true
Since God threw us out of the garden
Outro

These are my impressions for your track: It Was You All Along
First impression:
Intro strings sound very realistic.
I'm visualising Bugs Bunny singing. (I don't mean this in a bad way - I swear this my first visual impression - it actually made me smile).
Then there's a cartoony robot version of a female bunny singing along.
Second listen:
Strings really do sound great throughout the whole track.
I didn't expect the vocal "pop" at 00:28. Could be toned down a little.
I think the piano does a good job of supporting the vocals, providing a steady rhythm.
Piano and strings - they set the stage in the past - sort of 70s. The slight (tape?) hiss in the beginning and even more audible at the end contribute positively to recreating this era. It gives me a strong impression of listening to an older recording. And they complement the vocals very well.
The vocals sound crisp and in front of the mix. I think from this point of view the track is well balanced - vocals vs instrumental.
From a melodic point of view, I like the fact there is a fairly good amount of variety. The main theme sticks around in my head. Changing the key in the second part of the song also works well.
I found the Vocaloid has some strong "s"-es for my personal taste. Other than that it sits quite well, it sounds "humanised". When mixed with the real voice, it works too. During the duet, the Vocaloid voice dominates, and I guess that is what you went for.
Finally, I really liked the percussion you've used at the end of the track. It's very subtle but it gives strenth to the ending. (Are those Timpani rolling?). They are mixed really nice - not too soft - not too loud.
I'd really appreciate if you could also listen to my track "Vulnerable Rebellion". Cheers!
