Not every programmer is going to be interested. That's what the hub-bub is all about.

I'm just trying to put something positive out there without commenting on how ridiculous anyone here may be behaving. If you don't wanna work on the synth, fine, but maybe someone else will, so there's some info to start with.
OBxd is a clone, so changing it up with new synth features doesn't seem like what I would expect, a patch browser though, that's worth doing IMO. That would enhance it properly. Whoever has the skills to do it would do all a great service by taking on the challenge.

I'm sorry then, I thought you were just replying to my comment.
Yes I agree if someone were motivated to undertake the task that would be great. I just feel that users tend to greatly underestimate the time, effort and skill required to accomplish such a task in a satisfactory way. That things have turned out exactly as I said they would seems to make some people very, very upset.

I don't understand what's your problem. The guy asked what users may want, IF he decide to pick up the task We (users) said what we would want.aciddose wrote:I'm sorry then, I thought you were just replying to my comment.

Then you came up raising questions and problems when NOONE ASKED YOU ANYTHING. The guy who voluteered seem to be a grown up (he is even a father) so, he certainly is responsible enough to know whether he can or cannot get in to the task. He surely don't need you to tell him what he can or can't do.
So, if you cannot help, what exactly are you doing here?

JUCE is also a very interesting tool, anyone can learn it if they have the interest and the time. Someone said they may have just that, just because you don't doesn't warrant you acting essentially like a bully to users interested in it. It seems someone wants to show how much more informed he is than anything else, a pecker waving party. That's pretty pathetic. I hope someone interested takes up the cause, learning JUCE would pay off for them beyond this one plugin. A lot of plugins are made with this tool, and a lot more are possible.

Just make sure you don't discuss Rhodes samples/plugins with him either.. ..(and probably 1000 other things too)..braj wrote:It seems someone wants to show how much more informed he is than anything else, a pecker waving party. That's pretty pathetic.
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

acidos that's a lot of words to say "i can't do JUCE," brah
which is lol/lmbo far and away the easiest way to dev a plug these days so... dunno what to tell you, but i think you have made it very clear that you won't do this so perhaps your work here is done?

Then what are all you people doing here?
Just here to whine and complain?
So I'm merely stating facts in an attempt to explain why after several years absolutely no one has stepped forward to accomplish the tasks people have been asking to be done. This is likewise why the original developer did not do this in the first place.
So, not aimed at anyone in particular, but generally those who seem happy to bitch and complain or are upset at my comments, please answer a question of mine in return: why are you so happy to bitch and complain and yet unwilling to learn enough to do it yourself?
Just here to whine and complain?
Not that I'm unable to help, just that I don't have any desire to. That was the source of all this anger and the purpose of my original comment, which was in response to the question (paraphrased) "is it hard to find a developer? Is this project discontinued or ... ?"fmr wrote:So, if you cannot help, what exactly are you doing here?

believe it or not conversation can fall in categories other than "whine" or "complain" but you'd have to read posts other than your own to see that

Whatever category you'd place such comments in, they don't seem to have provided anything toward accomplishing these tasks.aumordia wrote:categories other than "whine" or "complain"
In fact I'd say the negativity weighs heavily upon anyone who might consider providing such a free service to those who are apparently hateful ingrates.
Before you complain about how there is no one there to help, you might consider whether you have been pushing them away.

1. No one is complaining. Regretting and complaining are completely different things.aciddose wrote: Before you complain about how there is no one there to help, you might consider whether you have been pushing them away.
2. Apparently, in your case, we haven't succeeded in pushing you away (and in this particular we are willing to). So, whatever can we do?

Option #1: Ignore each other.
Option #2: Continue polluting this thread with personal attacks.
Option #3: Talk about OBXD.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My choice is #3, so a sound engine related feature request:
Per oscillator drift.
16 sample and glide LFOs, operated by "amount" and "rate" knobs.
If it increases CPU consumption too much, a button to turn off this feature.
Lack of drift is one of the major things that is missing from OBXD, if OBXD wants to be a faithful emulation of OB-X.

It's your request, and we have to respect that. But if some developer is going to pick this, there are much more important things to do than trying to pick the pot of gold at the and of the rainbowMutant wrote: My choice is #3, so a sound engine related feature request:

Besides, regarding the oscillator drift, either I'm missing something, or there is already some sort of drift. Connect OB-Xd to an oscillator, play the default, and tell me what you see. Unless you are referring to something else.
And let's not just start another "faithful emulation" discussion. I guess noone would ever agree about what is a "faithful emulation" and how "faithful" it is (to what, BTW? This synth isn't even emulating ANY Oberheim model in particular. Nobody ever said it was an emulation of OB-X)
