Am I correct in saying that Zebra 2 and The Dark Zebra are separate instruments, they are different .dlls?
If so will both plugins receive any maintenance updates? With Zebra 3 coming down the road I don't expect there will be any feature updates to Z2 and TDZ but compatibility and stability updates? (asking mainly for the Mac crowd which I am not a member of)
If I remember correctly TDZ has some filters from DIVA. Does it have any other sound design advantages over Zebra 2? My memory fails me as to all the differences.

Yes, TDZ contains ZebraHZ.dll, which has a few "early concepts for Zebra3" features. Most notably polyphonic post-VCA-pre-Mix compressors on each of 4 Grid Lanes. It also has Diva filters (by request of Hans Zimmer), but they are not stereo, as well as twice the number of MSEGs, Resonators and additional Comb Filters.
We have always maintained ZebraHZ in parallel, and of course we'll continue to do so!

Ok thanks. I guess what I'm trying to sort out in my head is will I use TDZ over Z2 going forward. I assume DZ will load all Z2 presets while the reverse would not be true.

I use to keep both Z2 and TDZ in my first call synth list, but mainly because I preferred the GUI in Zebra 2 and that I had done years of favouriting in Zebra 2, but now I know how to transfer my Zebra 2 favourites to TDZ AND the skin I use are more or less the same for both (Thanks Wombat), I took Zebra 2 out of the first call list. It is of course there installed still to be used to open the countless older projects that used Zebra 2.
But yes,, TDZ will load Z2 presets but not necessarily the reverse.

Urs, just for clarification...
As an owner of Z2, eying to get TDZ... it would not really make sense to get TDZ right now for 99EUR (apart from the warm feeling introduced by supporting you) and being entitled to get Z3 for free while I can get TDZ along with all the other presets for free "very soon" and add Z3 later "when its done" for around 30EUR, right?
Any catch I might fail to see during a fortnight wait for TDZ to arrive on my harddisk?

Congratulations! Simply download Zebra Legacy from our website and install it. You can also upgrade to Zebra3 for only €30 as soon as it becomes available.
