BTW, Great presets already in there Rob, so take the time needed, your work is appreciated here!

I have a little suggestion, maybe try some rhythmic stuff, it's really interesting what's possible with ACE.

Have fun!

I've been thinking about building drums with ACE, there's not a lot of synths that make me happy when it comes to kicks especially, and I have a tough time finding "clicky" samples (I don't much like "real" hats..). Using the mapper as a multistage envelope I bet you could even make claps, maybe not quite like xoxos' setup, but maybe.

Whaddya think? Hows the drum creation experience been going? :D

Oh yeah, and I know this is a little off topic, but did you ever complete that kick lib for Largo, and if so, can I load it into Komplexor? :scared:
Kicks/Claps/Snares/Fx Drums/Hats OHH & CHH Cym/Zaps all possible in ACE and they will be in the release bank :D You can get some pretty nasty kicks using the mapper and assigning the filters to the adsr 1 & 2 etc.
coming up with loads of these sounds on every twiddle of the knob :D

a little tip on snares/claps/rims

i find that using the slap back delay setting and crosstalk in the tweak page adds alot of depth to these type of percussion sounds..

white noise for hats/cymbals vcf to hp/bp/br
pink noise for snares/claps etc

have fun :D

PS

Largo

I still have alot of preset loops and drums saved in my Largo library i just have'nt been able to finish off the bank yet..I'll pm when it's done
Im enjoying designing for ACE atm

Paradoxically, really loving how "digital" Ace can sound with the "Tap Map" feature in LFO2. (I guess you can run analog step sequencers at audio rate and get vaguely comparable results, but to my ear Ace crosses over into "digital wavetable" territory with this feature.) Quickie: digi-ace

I just made a couple of percussive presets, makes me really feel like such a noob lol. I have no idea whats going on in there! I did manage to make some maracas and this weird distorted snare sound (I'm not even sure why it sounds distorted!)

Maybe I should dial back a little and try for some basic sine kicks.. I couldn't possible screw that up.. I hope..

Maybe I will post the presets, and maybe someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong? I guess they're useful on their own, but I don't fully understand what I'm doing lol.

Try using different quality aswell on your percussion sounds then twiddling the filter gain knob for that extra his..works wonders in draft mode..
also use more stacked voices (1-4) on snares claps with slap back delay mix to around 8.00 - 12.50 and try different feedback values :D

Here's something for Sonar users too.. i found this by mistake:

I went to save an fxb bank and hit the randomise button by mistake and it totally gave me a big fat bass drum on osc 1 with delays etc.

Im thinking more DAWS have the randomise option but i have'nt used it on presets yet just the extra drum and percussion sounds for variation...works well..not so good on your normal presets though just use randomise function in your DAW for percussion and fx sounds for some great results.

Here's the patches I've made so far:

XBR Bizarre Distorted Snare
XBR Cheap Dirty Saw
XBR Cheap Maracas
XBR Distroy The Kick!
XBR Simple Snap Kick
XBR Snap and Throbber

- edit ---
Right click and "save as" on the links, it looks like my webhost just treats the patches as plain text so they will end up displaying in your browser as text rather than downloading properly.

Just noticed you can change the transparency of the cables like in some of the early screenshots by editing Data/Scripts/ACE.txt and changing the last hex pair (there are 4 pairs for a total of 8 characters). It's in hex, so the largest value is "FF" and the smallest value is "00". I set it to 50 myself.

29 patches for ACE. The result of getting comfortable with it yesterday, the patches are probably not so great or not so desirable for everyday use, they are mostly noises, but here they are if you so choose to…

Hmm, so those are totally useless presets? Great! ;)
I found out it's hard to make a sound with ACE totally uninteresting so it's worth to have a listen to your presets anyway :)
The more I hang around at KVR the less music I make.

I mean that it depends...they are not the type of patches that would stand out as really cool is what I mean, I'm not a sound designer.
