1st track from my upcoming CD "Stevie W & The Vocaloids Vol 1"

Every once in a while, I do something that I really like. This song just came together. Probably my best vocals in a long time, maybe ever. I especially love the lyrics on this one. Just a fun, catchy tune. A must listen if you're a Wagtunes fan.

Elsewhere, I'm done with doing concept albums. They're too much work. So this is the first of my hodgepodge of stuff volumes. Anything goes so I'm not boxed in to any one style or theme.

Good As Gold

If fine wine makes a dinner great
If Batman is your ideal date
There's no need to tempt your fate
Just do what you gotta do

If baseball is your sport of choice
If Boy George is the perfect voice
You might as well just rejoice
And live the life that's true

Cause it's good as gold if it makes you smile
You're only here for a little while
So might as well go out in style
Down the Nile it's good as gold

If hot sex makes your eyes bug out
If rock songs make you want to shout
Then trust me cause there ain't no doubt
Just do what you gotta do

If long walks take your cares away
If children make you want to play
Then listen boy to what I say
And live the life that's true

Repeat Chorus

Anything can make the day just right
All you gotta do is see the light

Repeat Chorus

I really needed to just do something stupid. This is my thumbs down to Labor Day.

That's great. Made me laugh (in a positive way). Reminded me of WFMU, one of the best things in my life (especially as a late teen) real freeform. A tune like this might get played between the Shadows, Beethoven, and then Zappa, then another "quirky" fun piece.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback. Much appreciated, especially to be mentioned along with Zappa. LOL

2nd track from my upcoming CD "Stevie W & The Vocaloids Vol 1"

Filler tune. If you want to hear one of my best songs, listen to "Good As Gold". I promise, you won't be sorry. The link to it is at the bottom under this track.

A Sight To Behold

When you walk down the street
All the eyes start staring
Everyone that you meet
Can't help but glaring

Cause you're a sight to behold
The prettiest girl around
You're a sight to behold
You're the one I've found
And when I look at you my dear
It always brings a tear
And I love to have you near
You're a sight to behold

When we party in town
All the men start gawking
Oh and when you get down
It gets my eyes a walking

Repeat Chorus

They should issue protective eye wear
Otherwise to look at you one would not dare

I liked Sight to behold musically more than Gold. But I did like the Gold lyrics. Its almost like Irish folk.
Sight to Behold I really enjoyed, and in terms of mixing and mastering, this is definately better than your previous songs. Did you invest more time in mixing?
I have a new song soon (after 7 months absence) - putting it on KVR in about a week ! : )

Interesting. Perfect example of how musical taste can be so different. To me, "Sight To Behold" was a basic rock chord progression with a very generic melody. Lyrically, I put it on par with "Gold" but that's about it. "Gold's" melody is, IMO, infinitely catchier and better.

FWIW, I find that a lot of my songs that I think of as "filler" my group has decided to cover. I honestly have no idea why, though they do want to do "Gold."

Like I said, interesting.

Looking forward to your new song. Let me know when you post it.

Before I post my next track, I never answered your question about mixing this.

Didn't really do anything special but the track itself has very little going on in it so that may be a big part of it. I did my usual panning the electric guitars hard left and right but everything else is pretty standard straight up the middle with a couple of exceptions. But like I said, there isn't much going on in this one so that's probably a big part of the difference. I kept it relatively sparse.

3rd track from my upcoming CD "Stevie W & The Vocaloids Vol 1"

Something a little different on the rock side. This was a nightmare to mix. Way too much going on in this at times. An exercise in sidechaining.

She Dug Me

First she gave me a smile
And then the little wink of her eye
Damn that gal had style
And I just can't lie

She dug me
She hug me
Then she made her move and loved me
She's a babe
I was made
Time to throw me a parade
Cause she dug me

She took me to her room
And then undressed me with her eyes
It wasn't all doom and gloom
When she let me touch her thighs

Repeat Chorus

And I can't lie
I dug her too
I tell you guy
She's a gal I love to woo

Repeat Chorus

The vocals sound great (although could be mixed louder). The very elaborate arrangement keeps things interesting all the way through. The instrumental break is quite good. The lyrics seem a bit rushed as if you went with the first rhyme you could find.

Great job overall!

:) Gritty rock n roll.

Thanks for the listen and the feedback Frantz. Much appreciated. Actually, I worked really hard on the lyrics. Maybe I should stop doing that. LOL

4th track from my upcoming CD "Stevie W & The Vocaloids Vol 1"

Well, I was in another one of my "let's do something stupid" moods, so this is what I came up with. Not quite as ridiculous as "Pig On The Dash" but it's close.

A Duck And A Pig

A duck and a pig went into a bar
The duck said “hey, give me a drink”
The bartender said we don't serve your kind
Then the pig he started to stink

But the duck wouldn't give up
He parked himself on a stool in a huff
And the pig just stunk some more
Til Joe came through the door

And he said “my name's Joe” and don't you know
I'm a hunter of ducks and pigs
I see I got me a pair to bag
I can see I got 2 graves to dig
So you two better run for the hills
Cause pretty soon you're gonna have the chills
My reputation in this town is big
When I find me a duck and a pig

Well the duck was quaking up a storm
Then the pig said “Let's get out of here Norm”
But then this big dude he pulled out a gun
He wouldn't give them a chance to run

Repeat Chorus

Instrumental Break

Repeat Chorus

wagtunes,
Now listening to "A Duck And A Pig". This is an amusing song, the lyrics are humorous. The melodies are quite nice per usual. Audio quality is very good. Instrumentally, it kind of reminded me of 70's David Bowie (a compliment). Rock on man! :)
