My only problem has been with physical products where he is required to charge me more than others.
In this, I blame our state government and not him. But most of us have to be diligent in making sure we check all our resources in comparison to get the best possible deal available.
For me, Eric (Uncle E) from Jrrshop is the best internet retailer. I bought from many retailers, but he's at the top for customer service. For prices, he has the best price (or near it) most of the time. If not, he tries to adjust to have the best price. He did incredible things for me, for example once he uploaded files online so I could download them and use them with an online license from the company instead of paying for a shipping product. Now that company finally offers digital download, but at the time I would have to pay shipping and probably custom fees if not for his help. Even when I have many questions about a product, the price or a special request, he always takes time to answer nicely.

Of course, other dealers could be fine to deal with, but for me, I never had this much overall (price and customer service). Long live Uncle E!
First of all, I agree you 100% on their customer service

See, I'm on the opposite side of that now with them for buying physical products. I have to pay tax and shipping through him where I don't have to with other dealers. They are great and I like how responsive they are here on the forum. Because of my proximity to JRR, it just works out that the deal they give me comes out much higher than others when buying physical products.

The irony is, that our state says they require this to 'even out the playing field' for the smaller business, but in fact, it kills it for them more often than not. Its not their fault, its our greedy governments.

Damn I'd done so well up to now avoiding ilok but have had my eye on this for a while so had to go for it.
From their site it seems like Soundtoys is pretty fair in taking care of you if something does happen to your ilok so that's reassuring too.

Well at least they give you the option to do dongle-free installations. This is the furthest I go with iLok.

That's only for Microshift, the rest of the plugins requires a hardware ilok.

Apropos, ilok also has the zero downtime insurance for $30/year, which seems mandatory to me so I bit the bullet,
and have a spare ilok ready for disasters.

When they did have their catastrophe last year, that did not help at all. It was the same for everybody.

Nevertheless, I took the iLok risk years ago. Had a two week off period due to the aforementioned issues. Hoping for the best in the years to come. iLok is really handy *most* of the time. When it is not, it is the exact opposite of handy, so be prepared for that with bootable copies of your hd.

Does anyone have iLok + eLicenser? I have an eLicenser for Cubase, and misc. Steinberg products, Xils, Arturia, etc., but seem to remember reading that iLok and eLicenser dongles do not play nice at the same time.

I have read rave reviews about Soundtoys, especially Echoboy, and not taken a chance due to the iLok thing.

I'm using both, not having any issues.

iLok/PACE runs a continual background service on my system ranging from .5% to 3% but unfortunately boosts other vst usages exponentially from 3%-8% when it is there. Other than that obtrusive tidbit, it works as designed.

Tracktion 5 ($59 list) now includes Melodyne Essentials (which I just bought at Musician's Friend, should have waited).

Will JRR be hosting PSP Mastercomp at the current special price?

It's not so attractive direct from PSP with sales tax added :(
