Urs. I just tried the RC3 you posted today, and the bug I mentioned is still there (on both my laptop and desktop. (Cubase 4.5))

Here is how I can quite easily reproduce it.

1. automate a filter cutoff sweep from closed to open over a few looped bars
2. hit play on the sequencer
3. try to open and close the UI while the filter automation is active -- ie. the filter meter is either increasing or decreasing
4. the UI will grey out, and Cubase will freeze up.

It only seems to happen when the 'synthesis' page is upfront. When 'presets' or 'performance' page are upfront, the open/close of the UI works normally during the automation.

I hope that makes sense, and I hope that someone else can confirm.

That might be it then... will check...

What system are you on? - I only have Cubase 4.01 or so on Win installed... maybe I have to upgrade this, too...

Actually, I was also able to crash Project5 (Vista) in a similar test.

I had some preset with a VCF1 and recorded some notes and cutoff automation, then played back the few patterns closing and reopening Zebra GUI with the synth panel open. Project5 crashed with the Zebra2.dll after five or so GUI close/open cycles.

Of course this might just as well be happening with any automation, but it can indeed crash, and doesn't seem only Cubase related.

Hi Urs.

I am using Vista32 at home, and XP SP3 on my laptop.

Both are running Cubase 4.5.2

Hope that helps.

Yep, rebooted the computer and tried again with just the Init sound automating osc tune from P5. It took a bit longer but after 15 or so Zebra GUI close/opens it crashed again.

I can reproduce the crash in Live 7 by advaya's method. Here's the top of the stack trace. I'll mail you the crash log.

Ah... okay... got it!

Will look into it tomorrow. I guess it's nothing new though... it might have been there before...

You should upgrade because Cubase 4.1 in a lot of senses is a quite a different beast.

Got the new update installed...

I can hone in my OSC Save box comment a little bit more...

The Save OSC box doesn't display properly for me in any other size than normal. Both skins are fine in normal mode.

[Mac Pro 2008, OSX 10.5.5, Logic 8.02, also Live 7.0.10. AU in Logic & Live/VST in Live.]

... Everything sounds quite good though so far ;) :)

How about it?

I just installed RC3. The 'Make default' command still has no effect. After changing to the Dark Horse skin, it still reverts to the default skin when closed and reopened. Still gotta use the trick in the text file.

Well, I of course meant the Sideband modules which are now not automatically shown in the Dark Horse Skin anymore.

Not sure yet how to approach the problem with permissions.

I've updated the Mac version yet again:

http://www.zebrasynth.com/download/Zebr ... nstall.zip

This one should:

- hopefully fix possible crash when closing VST editor during automation
- set file permissions so that changing the default gui works

Now booting into Windows to apply the same fix for the potential crash. Hope it works!

And now also for Windows:

Zebra23MacInstall (VST & AU, RTAS Mac)

Zebra23Winstaller (normal installer for Windows)

Zebra23pre-installed (with Zebra2.data for Receptor, Everything In Vstplugins)

- fixes potential crashes when closing VST editor during host automation :?:
- fixes file permission problems with setting default gui on Mac :?:

Hope this is it...

Later,

;) Urs

I have a preset question:

With one of the recent updates, I've begun putting my presets in a 'User' folder, but I can't find that folder on my drive when I look for it to make a backup. I see all the other presets folders, but not the user one. I seem to remember something in this forum a while ago about the file format changing, but I can't remember where. I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.5.5 and the release candidate just prior to the one Urs posted about previous to this post.

Love the Dark Horse skin, btw. and of course, I love Zebra and all u-he products!

Thanks for any help.

It sure did! Thanks Urs.

Seems Christmas may have officially come early for me now. :)
