Right, that is what I was getting at, and I was asking Urs the other day about joysticks and video game controllers, which I am very interested in exploring, but he didn't have alot to say about that.
But I remain quite interested in the concept.

Urs, I remember you mentioned in one of the threads that Zebra3 was not a physical modeling synth. I beg to differ
. It is very much possible.

I heard some really impressive patches that dialed in wind and brass instruments as well, by another poster. I wish I remembered their name. I definitely agree that it seems there are huge physical modeling possibilities with this synth. Thanks for sharing.

Is there a way to create a "Shepards tone" with the existing oscillator effects?

Im sorry, i respect your effort but it does sound like MIDI ran thro generic soundprocessor that something like Playstation 1 has (think FF VII game)Rnaroth wrote: Fri Feb 27, 2026 6:55 pm Urs, I remember you mentioned in one of the threads that Zebra3 was not a physical modeling synth. Tbf, not everyone interested in Z3 has used previous U-he productsUrs wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 7:42 am It's one of those funny things. The distortion is lifted from Hive/Repro where it has lived a happy life for more than a decade. In Zebra 3 suddenly it evokes feature requests![]()

Of course not, and that was not implied here. My point is, the unit is tried and tested, so it's surprising for us that people want to see it expanded in the new context.psychedelicspaniel wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 11:43 amTbf, not everyone interested in Z3 has used previous U-he productsUrs wrote: Tue Feb 24, 2026 7:42 am It's one of those funny things. Everyone knows that Hive is the fast, streamlined synth and Zebra is the do everything (except samples) synthUrs wrote: Sat Feb 28, 2026 12:37 pmOf course not, and that was not implied here. But also, all synths get all feature requests (to make it the one synth that every synth would be).

True Urs! One thing I take issue with (kidding) is that Z2 let you pick other FMO waveforms but Z3 doesn’t. I’d love if you brought that feature back so we can do OPL2 sounds. I know delta x allows this but it’s more limited.
Plus, it was something possible on Z2 but isn’t anymore!
