Hello Urs,

another reminder two weeks over. ;) i hope i am not too annoying.
i tried to install the ubiks to the v-machine but had bad luck. a "pre-installed version" would be very cool. it should be very easy (in my opinion). I think, the only thing is, that the plugins (dll)should look for the folder u-he (which is now located in "Programme") FIRST in its own folder (the folder where the dll is located).

bye max

hello urs,

how about the pre installed versions of uhbik? would be very nice :)

Post

i tried the uhbiks again on the v-machine and all worked fine. no special knowledge is needed, so i dont need the pre-installed versions anymore :) !!!

UPDATE:

ok, the effects only work in demo mode on the v-machine :(. on my computer they work in full (registerd) mode. i go now to bed... bad luck today - f***
btw: the phaser sounds GREAT on a wurly (preset: invisible)

Post

Mäxchen, I'll look into it!

I'm a bit late, four year are passed from the last post :) ... and I've tried the excellent Zebralette with VMachine and it works fine (with low polifony of course) but the problem with the program change is the same, VMachine don't allow the change of the patches and also midi program change messagges are ignored. Saving a preset in vmachine for every path is a solution but it's a bit annoying.

I've take a deeper look at info published to host by the vst and the number of preset supported is 1. This could be the problem, the host do not allows patch selection because vst claims only one patch!

I'm guessing if zebra2/zebralette could provide to host a greater number of patches, maybe the ones contained in "MIDI Programs" folder, or maybe just the maximum allowed (128 Banks x 128 Patches), or maybe configurable in some script files... who knows... maybe Urs could know?? :) ...please??

Post

You're on good track - if you put up to 128 patches in Zebralette's "MIDI Programs" folder, you will be able to use program changes to switch between them. You can even have subfolders here and use Bank Select MSB to switch between them.

Please read the Zebra 2 manual, page 15!

Yes, thank you Evil Dragon... it's ok, I know it, and it works with program change in this way for some hosts... but VMachine I think use this information to allow program change on the VST... but Zebra2/Zebralette say to host (via VST SDK Interface) that it manage only 1 patch. You can use other hosts, for example VSTHost and you can verify that you cannot change patches using it but you have to change them using the Zebra/Zebralette gui (or midi program change messages if hosts route them to vst).

Post

Zeebs does manage only one patch, but it receives program change messages and acts upon them. I remember this working on V-Machine last time I tried it... granted, that wasn't with Zebralette, that was with SQ8L. I think that the number of patches a plugin reports to the host doesn't necessarily have to do anything with how the plugin responds to program changes. I just tested SAVIhost and loaded Zebralette with it, I didn't use SAVIhost's preset changing but I sent program changes from my Kurzweil PC3K8. It works as it should (provided you put stuff in "MIDI Programs" folder). :)
