For those that cant read, im not saying these synths have similar architectures or technology, Im saying they can produce some similar sounds to the Neuron. No doubt some one will take issue

There are more than one way to skin that cat. When I tried out the free Neuron software, I thought it reminded me a lot of the types of sounds I was getting with Absynth... but to be honest, not as good sounding as Absynth.VariKusBrainZ wrote:Image Line Ogun is another one that comes to mindVariKusBrainZ wrote:Plex is in a similar ballpark sound wise to my wooden ears

Of course you would for the Windows version, it's not the new version that's been released from the copy protection, it's the original oneHalonmusic wrote:The guy above me said you dont need a NUKE. I dont know?aMUSEd wrote:Do you have a NUKE, won't work without it?

you do NOT need the nuke for the windows version, but...it doesnt matter because the windows version is broken.

I think Nuke was a dongle for both Win and Mac versions when Neuron was payware.chaosWyrM wrote:aMUSEd wrote:Of course you would for the Windows version, it's not the new version that's been released from the copy protection, it's the original oneHalonmusic wrote:The guy above me said you dont need a NUKE. Though if you have the Windows version which is broken ... it probably may work without Nuke.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

One of those "press a key and infinite drone" machines, where you randomly click some parameters, and see what the output is.
Not my cup of tea frankly, i like to see and understand what i'm doing. And i also don't get bored of the "always same" sounds some want to hear in subtractive synths, which i frankly can't comprehend. Even with a simple subtractive synth, and even more so with a synth capable of wavetable synthesis, the possibilities are endless. But, hey, to each their own.

The only version that will work without the NUKE on Windows is the cracked one that is floating around on the net, but that was not based on the latest beta anyway (since it was never released)chaosWyrM wrote:aMUSEd wrote:Of course you would for the Windows version, it's not the new version that's been released from the copy protection, it's the original oneHalonmusic wrote:The guy above me said you dont need a NUKE. Not at all, quite the opposite in fact. It's a very dynamic and interactive physical model of resynthesised instruments - meant to be played as an instrument, not simply left to drone out endlessly.chk071 wrote:One of those "press a key and infinite drone" machines, where you randomly click some parameters, and see what the output is.

Hi, everyone
Neuron VS is working fine in the Ugly Vsti Interface version 0.5 by reFuse Software, and this free vsti host can be rewired into my DAW which is Reaper, and I guess it will work with any DAW which has the rewire option.
My OSX is El Capitan.
Didn't play around with Neuron so much but it has some very good sounds which I enjoy a lot considering also that it is free.
I hope that some people here will be happy to use it like this.

I remember when I briefly used a Neuron that it came with a (very clunky) java app to do the resynthesis/modelling/whatever. Can this be used with the VS and is it installed with this new Mac version?

No Modelmaker is separate, not sure if it's available for download now.moshimoshi wrote:I remember when I briefly used a Neuron that it came with a (very clunky) java app to do the resynthesis/modelling/whatever. Can this be used with the VS and is it installed with this new Mac version?

I remember when this came out. It is a shame when innovative new ideas don't get the break.
Then again the website link for the VST has some pretty self absorbed, mud slinging spiel about why it never took off.

Another way to put it - priced at $5k and riddled with bugs we never ironed out we found the market was just not present for for a high priced non working exotic synth.Unfortunately and despite the huge interest in our products, due to some issues with distribution and our hardware manufacturer Hartmann was driven out of business in 2004.
