did it get you a job in a mastering studio?
I was just saying; Busking's not just for homeless people, there's good money in it. I have a good job in a museum, but still busk every now and then.
"homeless" is non-sequitur to "busking".

It came up. I don't know how "I write and mix/master EDM in my spare time" is part of a path to a paying job in mixing or mastering, either. It will take getting someone who has the job who 1) believes you're reliable with the skill set and has a sense of you as a reliable person who won't miss work and 2) likes you on some level in the first place to even consider it.
It's a social skill and it takes placing yourself in the situation. There's no manual for this.

and as was just pointed out, there may not be any such job anyway.
Expect to serve people for free for a while in order to create some gratitude and well-being is my general assessment.

I don’t care what he said.
leave the thread then
Why should I?
because you have no idea what you are talking about
Oh, I see, But it ain’t gonna happen, so you are at it now. Ha, ha. My posts jumping in your face everytime you open your computer and you have no choice but to read them and suffer :troll:

And advice still standing.
your advice never got off the ground, let alone stand.

the only person suffering is you, from delusion
You're easily messed with, aren't you.

I don't want to be homeless
But I misunderstood his meaning... I read it as "busking's for homeless people" ... but I see he's just saying "I want a job so I can pay rent and not end up homeless". :dog:

This will be severely limiting as you have chosen to limit yourself to a genre that everyone and his brother wants to do, so you will be competing with significantly more people than if you work on developing broader musical skills.

Develop your songwriting as more general or pop songwriting, and learn to mix and master any kind of music. Challenge yourself in terms of writing, push to improve your abilities at playing one or more instruments, and learn how music works in all aspects of it.

Not meaning to be negative, but this thread could be one of a thousand that have been posted before it - there's no easy way to make a career in music, and the more you limit yourself musically, the less chance you have of making it.

Justin's advice to get out there and network is very good advice though. Remember the old entertainment industry adage: "It's not WHAT you know, but WHO you know"
Sweet child in time...

^^ the fine art of songwriting is not what it used to be.
At this point though, I would be happy if I could find any job as long as it has something to do with music (and pay a basic living). I would love to do mastering and mixing at a studio preferably.
OP, but you didn't say you wanted to be a performer. You say you want to do any job as long as it had something to do with music.

You can always hop on the ML/AI bandwagon. It's going to be a crowded place but the good news is, it's the future. The sooner you start, the further head you will be in a few years. Every vendor under the sun is offering free training. So as long as you are willing to put in the time and effort to learn to tools, there might be a way and a place for you.

stand outside studios in your free time holding up a sign that says "will work for free"

get an electrical apprenticeship, that way if you can’t work in a studio you can build one...

I realize where your remark came from, and I didn't react even that well to it.
When I was more or less that age (ca 1980) I worked in the library at school for minimum wage. In today's economy expecting a professional sort of job with no particular experience or credentials in the field isn't realistic, & outside of having the connections doesn't happen. This is a very competitive world, recording studio type of position. One will need lateral or oblique strategies.

So it's kind of a non-sequitur anyway; if the real goal is to not end up on the street, get a job, it may be a shit job.
