Will Tyrell ever get updates with newer features common to other u-he synths?

Yeah, hehe, I guess it is. Velvet is a stripped down Satin though and Lyrebird is the seed of Colour Copy. Drench is called NuVerb in Zebrify. So most of it is out there anyway...
The mock-up of the Tyrell Ultra with all the effects was of course a bit of a joke.

Most of the U-he effects are indeed available in in other packages but not the polyphonic distortion of repro-5. I am really digging that distortion when using MPE and assigning the Dist:mix to ctrlA (which is connected to CC74). I think there is a big difference when the effect chain is really a part of the instrument including the modulation of the effect parameters when playing it or when it is just at the end of the signal flow.

So if Tyrell would get MPE (hence the little button MPE button…) it needs to responds to one channel per voice. Considering this architecture, would there be a chance that polyphonic distortion will be added to Tyrell? Or for that matter a MPE controllable send effect towards a distortion unit. I just like controllable gritty stuff.

I guess I'll spend the next year or two trying to lower expectations - both feature-wise and ETA-wise :hihi:

Nah, don’t worry, most of us U-he forum dwellers are already experienced Zebra 3 watchers. :hihi:

I think it's pretty much fine as is! New browser, MPE and VST3 and I'd pay!

(We talked to Amazona about this and they're generally okay with this idea - and with us hosting it ourselves. Looks like we're opening a pathway that allows us to continue development... maybe as soon as next year)
I would totally buy it! (It was discovering Tyrell only this year that led me to buy Diva and Repro...)

Amazona wish to keep exclusivity until the end of this year, so we won't start updating before 2022. This also aligns with our schedule as we're excessively busy still with Apple Silicon updates, a new layer for AAX later on and final work on Uhbik as well as starting Zebra3 development for real.

I will just say I don't particularly care for U-he to spend time on this or freeware in general.

U-he is almost perfect as a company can be. The only deficiency is that their products are all high priced premium products (besides freeware of course). Having at least one cheap product in the portfolio would fix that weakness.

In my opinion FX or sequencing features in that synth would not be essential, only the sound quality of the synth engine.

What about ACE? We always thought it was priced rather competitively…

It is, but since it's basically a modular "mini Bazille" I don't think it's as appealing as a "mini Hive" or a "mini Diva" would be.
