MuLab App 9.3.5 beta for Windows 64 bit is available in https://www.mutools.com/mulab/app/lates ... /beta.html

What's changed:
  • Important bug fix in MuLab's VST3 plugin subsystem. Izotope VST3 plugins now play fine!
@sl23: Can you please recheck the Roland VST3 plugins. Are they working now?
  • Plugin Manager: Add Category, Remove Category, ... now works on selected plugins if any, else on all plugins.

Okay, finally got some time to play :D

My big VST3 plugin is Process Audio Decibel which is working very well

So far I haven't ran into any issues with VST variants on M9.3.5

I've tried:
- MeldaProduction
- Kilohearts
- UVI
- Arturia
- Polyverse
- Acon Digital
- SoundToys
- ValhallaDSP
- KV331 Audio
- UHe
- Native Instruments
- d16 Group
- Xfer Records
- Vital
- Surge XT
- exacoustics

Now these tests are just loading instruments/effects and playing around, but it's still amazing!

Edit: Some more:
- FabFilter
- ToneBoosters
- TBTech
- iZotope

Plugin Latency Compensation I'm happy to report is also working :D

This is awesome, Jo!

I'll test that tonight Jo, thanks.

Sorry Jo, still not working! Tried them in Reaper and tested in Savihost, just so I know they work. Though Savihost doesn't work very well with them as it only loads one patch, you can't hear any sound if you change patches! lol But SH loads them no problem.

Ok, thx for retesting.

So what exactly happens when you insert a Roland plugin into M9.3.5?
Does it crash?
Is there a log file?

Post

Instant crash every time. Tried to drag from browser and open via Rack slot, same result.

Thanks

Showing off a small handful of VST3 plugs in video format :D Seriously top notch that I can do this now!

I only have 2 vst3 installed, Stochas and Invader 2 (Demo). Both working fine. Impressive turnaround making MuLab CLAP and vst3 compatible. Awesome work!

I've loaded a video on YouTube to show this issue. Let me know once you seen it and are clear you know the issue and I will remove the video. It has been classed as Unlisted so shouldn't be viewable without the link above.

For some reason OBS won't record video for me and SnipTool won't record audio!

So to guide you through this, I've used SnipTool so you can see what's happening.
These are the important points:

00.00 - To start with, I loaded a project, any one, and opened any VST2 Synth already loaded, in this case JP6K.

00.03 - I opened the Browser Plugin Info box to show this is a VST2.4 plugin.

00.09 - Then I showed that the 'Sylenth1 *' Plugin is a VST3. It doesn't matter which VST3 plugin you load. Which I then drag to a Rack slot.

00.30 - Now I select the JP6K to give it focus and then hold a note down while I drag any VST2 FX to the slot below it.

NOTE: the Meter is showing the Plugin being played and making a sound the whole time I drag the FX to the slot, it doesn't stop sounding.

00.47 - Now I select 'Sylenth1 *' and repeat the procedure of dragging any FX to the slot below it, playing and holding a note while doing so.

NOTE: This time the sound cuts out and all MIDI notes played after this time do not register anywhere in MuLab, not even on the keyboard at the top of the screen. Notice the keyboard at the top showing me holding the note, but the sound/meter has stopped.

01.00 - I then select the Rack with JP6K in it, and play a note, it now works as it should ie, sound and MIDI work.

01.04 - The same for Sylenth1. I reselect this Rack and it also works as it should.

Hopefully you should see what I am having an issue with from the video and the description. If not I will try to get OBS working again and see if that makes things clearer.

Thanks.

You're right there indeed is a little bug in MuLab's VST3 subsystem that causes this unexpected behavior. It will be fixed in the next update. Thx for reporting this and for the video which really helped in analyzing this issue!

No problem :) I'll remove the video from YouTube when I get home tonight.

I am sure this had been mentioned before on other place and has nothing to do with the actual version but as I have not used it regularly for long time.....

I just realized that when I load my no 1 master pluging bx_masterdesk (no matter which version or even which bx from pa it seems): no presets :-(.

And no way even to load them from somewhere. Any solutions for this ?

And on today's episode of "Programmers Gone Wild!"...

I was just settling in to using VST2 + Clap. :D
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

Post

Now we're spoilt for choice! But which version is best to use? Some plugins come in many formats, so what do you think is the best format that's future proof, reliable, stable, etc. Does it matter?

Post

It's difficult to predict the future. One thing is sure: 32 bit and VST2 will be a dead end. MuLab will keep supporting 32 bit and VST2 as long as it sufficiently makes sense, but anyway they will be a dead end.
